I had a Works Connection on my 04, then I put a MSR on my 07. The only difference is I saved $$$$$$ I'm pretty sure they're the same.. If not, they're awful damn close......

its a stock crf clutch perch, the hot start is on top and is connected through the pivot bolt. idk if its on all years but my 05 crf has one, you can probably pick one up dirt cheap compared to the aftermarket atv special ones...

ASV or ARC levers/perches are always a great choice. Removing the factory light/kill/starter housing and replacing it with a single starter button setup from a bike will help a lot. The other idea I noticed recently that I really liked is mounting the tethered killswitch (if you run one) in-between the bar clamps in the center of the handlebar. It is still easy to get to yet is out of the way.

I run ASV levers and I love them. BUT!!! I bought them 3 years ago when I was young and dumb and thought that black levers were really cool and worth $150. (I think that what I paid) Anyway. I took them off my 300, put them on my R. Got a hot start cable from Colby over at C&D for $12 and I have been rocking that setup. I just need to get a new plunger assembly for my carb so i can use the hotstart again. Damn thing seized and broke....

asv is the way to go only prob with mine is the hole where the pivot bolt goes through wore out on mine and it got all sloppy but its a simple fix. dont get msr though i went through 3 clutch lever/perches of them they break so easy

do hotstarts only work on a bike with a kick start or can an electric start bike use one?

i dont think the e starts have hot start. my carb is a 07er and it doesnt have hot start, but you can drill a hole and put it in i think.

yea only the kick starts have them. It helps wit the pressure in the cylinder when you try to start it when its hot. The carbs on the 06+ for electric start models do not have hot start, but you can send them out to a builder and have them drill it. I don't recommend just drilling into your carb.
