I've got some works tripple rate w/rezzies on the way
for my 400ex. How will it handle with the stock rear?
If I need to get rid of the stock rear, would I be o.k
to get the elka rebuild for it? how much.
Thanks,
R/T

The rear stock is good but should be re-valved according to several people that I've talked to.

u should be fine with just fronts. the only time u really need a rear is if u get sagging shocks and even then people dont changte rears

Thanks guys, I think I'll run the stock rear next year and
see how it goes. If I don't like it, I'll either get it revalved
or get a new one.
Thanks.

you should be fine with the stock, it costs about $300 to have it revalved and differant springs and whatnot and myself I ended up hating the rebuilt stock shock and buying aftermarket anyways. Waste of $300.

Run the stock rear, but make sure that you have the sag set for you.

Check with the quadshop for pricing on new shocks.

I bought these ones used from an exrider.

It would be a smart investment to have the Rear rebuilt. Talk to the Quadshop.

Stick with the stock rear shock. Being stock it has alot of adjustment anyway. It is a good shock to start with and doesn't need much.

Keep on saving and wait and get a Full Elka Rear Shock. You will be much happier.

If you decide to get a rebuild then talk to Jeff@QUADSHOP. The Mac Daddy Rebuild is great.

I agree with most of whats said here. The stocker is adequate, but if you get the rear re-valved and re-sprung for your weight, well worth the money.

I rode my Works on the front for 1 year, then had my rear done 6 months ago.....night and day difference. Now the rear can work together with the fronts. Just fronts are fine, but the fronts will work like they're supposed to if the rear is of the same build quality.

Just my 2 cents
