Looking at a 400ex today...

I'm going to look at this 400ex today..What do you think??

He emailed me and told me he'd sell it for $1,200 (the lowest he'd go)..I read the other thread on what to look for when buyng one. Right now I can't afford much more than $1,200 for a quad or else I'd buy something newer.


I asked if there's anything wrong and he said:

"it needs the rubber things that blocks the chain from hitting the swingarm, it needed a battery but i just bought a new one for it yesterday and the idle needs to be messed with cause sometimes its stalls while its sitting there idling but rides just fine..thats it besides the plastics are all scraped up and the from one is broken"

I would wait.

I uderstand needing to have something to ride, but from the pictures that thing looks like it's not been taken care of.

...and I know you can't expect a lot for $1200, but I just hate buying something for "$X" and then having to dump more money into it before I can enjoy it for fear of it breaking or because it's breaking.

Yeah right now I have a 4x4 honda fourtrax and also a 04 KX 250. So lastly I'm looking for a sport quad.

Yeah I don't like that the front fender is cracked. Looks like he rolled it, plus it looks like he keeps it outside, which really isn't that great either. I'd hold off for a bit.

i might be sellin my 2000 trx400ex soon it has brand new tires nerf bars. it has t-4 pipe and fmf jet kit .50 over in piston after market black plastics and also stock red plastics i will tell u probly this weekend if i do sell it

Keep in mind, he's in Mass. and you're in Florida. It would cost him the price difference in gas just to see you. (exaggeration, I know)

yea i wouldnt buy that quad unless you could talk him down in price and go over there and inspect it good. if you cant just keep looking youll find a better deal eventually.

idk how far you are from NJ but krt400ex on here, is selling his 2005 400ex and its a great looking quad well taken care of quad. if your a good while from jersey then disregard this post.

I found my 400ex on craigslist in central jersey (im from south jersey). It's an 03, excellent condition and came with with nerf bars on it, for $2000. The guy even offered to throw in his helmet, but it didn't fit me well. I thought it was a great deal. I went up to see it on a saturday night, 3 days later I went up and grabbed it. It was love at first sight. :D
