went out to start my quad the other day and it just won't start if it is cold outside. turn on the key put it in neutral, neutral light comes on headlights taillight works, hit the starter button and nothing. no sound at all. the green light dims but nothing. put it in my shop heated shop and let it warm up for an hour and it turns right on. it will pop start. i talked to my dad (a gm master tech of 25yrs) and he said he guessed it was the starter?? i'm really crossing my fingers that it isn't the starter. cause i don't wanna invest in one of those right now!!!

my question bout the kickstart is lower on the page.

Batterys low, when its cold it takes an immense amount of power to start..

its probably just because of the cold, I just had the same problem and I had to buy a little battery maintainer and now it works much nicer. I actually fouled the plug by trying to start it and I pumped the throttle too many times. The battery maintainer works wonders, I would invest in one.

and i know this topic is overused and overdone but what about a kick??? how much would it cost a good man to get this job done??? and in a nutshell how hard is it to be done??

a $30 battery charger form sears is a lot cheaper and easier than the kickstart conversion...

I bought one from wal mart for $20, I know its not top of the line and may not end up lasting forever but I look at it like this, im only using it for the winter time and it should last that long.

well believe it or not my dad just went down there and it started right up. but he said that the key was on when he started it?? so that means the key had been left on for 30mins . which makes no sense. so maybe i'll try turning the key on a little while before i start it. i'm really looking for anyway to get it to start!!
