Cody and I had to meet with jrspawn to drop off his latest Hybrid, so we rolled out at 3:30 am to head to Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge in Delaware.

We arrived just after sun up....and had a blast even though it was pretty cold out:p

The area was pretty iced up, not as many birds as we would have liked

The Swans were awesome, but just not close enough and pretty dirty from hanging out on dirty ice

I forgot my gloves so I was having issues working the focus:p

We got into a back section and there were thousands of Snow Geese. I was having a total fit as I had to dump 100 photos or so because I had my focus locked and forgot...causing out of foucs junk >:( Once I figured it out I was a happy camper again.

We left the ducks and continued on towards Blackwater, but the sun did not look good as we traveled in that direction. I made a call and found a friend who told me he had tons of snows and I should come shoot them before tomorrow as they intended to work on them tomorrow.

There were roughly 800-1000 snows in a field that borders the farm yard, and I did my best to get close.

More and more kept pouring into the field

They started the downward spiral and the noise level went through the roof

There were 2 other photogs there and they we were doing our best to find out where he went to eat the duck. They arent to shy ofcourse being in a refuge, and the other guys seemed a bit city so I was hoping I could get some dinner pics:D The fox in the last pic came out of the marsh and straight to us.

Ofcourse me sounding like a mouse helped:devil: I wonder what they will do if I hit my dying rabbit call:eek2:

Well, I had some free time this afternoon to work on a few shots that weren't so great. Using a new tele-converter has opened up some new issues I have to learn to deal with during the editing process, and I am not much good on that end of this deal.

Definitely some great photos. We've been seeing a ton of snows down by us, so with ducks and geese out we may try them over the next few weekends. It's crazy when they start that cyclone. They make so much noise you let the first half land, open up, and the ones on the ground and in the air never hear the gunfire. I also like the fox pics, would look a lot better through the scope on the AR though. :D We are starting to bait up some areas so I'll let you know when we start seeing some paired up ducks in them, should make for some crazy good shots. You can't beat the plummage this time of year.

Haha all my friends are hillbillies! But another gun in the blind won't hurt at all. Kill some snows in the morning then shoot some pics of ducks during the day. You might be on to something, now all we need is the birds to cooperate.
