Air Scoops?

Are these the plates of metal/aluminum that I see in the front of the quad under the front fenders? Do any of you guys have them on, and do they really help to cool the engine faster/longer?

yup thats what they are.i dont have them but ive heard they dont cool the engine down to much but they look pretty bad ***.

I've got em and they do funnel a little bit more air over the motor...I can't tell if it is bringin the temp down or not but for the minimal investment, they seem to work. But Rob is right...they look bad as hell!

Yeah they look pretty sweet, and for the price you can't really go wrong I guess. There's a bunch of different ones on ebay. Plus like Hyper said, they don't look to hard to make yourself, and I got the tools to do so. So maybe i'll try that first, and if I don't like em, i'll just buy myself a set.

Mike...shock covers are from Rock...got them from Motosprot.com for i believe 30.00??? for all 3.

Bullett...The pipe is absolutely awesome...dont know why i waited...no backfires so i may not jet it until i see what it does in the warmer weather. It was a beeyotch getting the stock one off in 10 degree wetaher...a few scraped knuckles but got it done in about 45 minutes.

Tinners I believe mount to the frame. Most others, like OMF, just mount to the bolts that hold the fenders on.

i paid for these....read the whole thread...tells where i got them. I admit i was too lazt to screw with making em myself.

I think scoops look better with some color than the aluminum finish.. just my 2 cents.

Already on the to do list when the weather gets above 20 degrees,when i have time to get them off, and find a color i like,get enough time to put them back on etc etc.....maybe june?

I am right there with ya...try putting an exhaust on in a storage unit with 10 degree weather......It was a pain in the crotch but i couldnt wait...my hands were numb even with gloves on...now your project on the other hand may need some warmth and time....

I think they look better and will be cheaper as well...I originally ordered the ones from RMatv and didnt like them. Sent them back and got the tinners.

I am not 100% on this,but i believe they will...Give Jim or Cheri a qucik email with your make/model and year.I think they will but email him just to be safe.

i saved this from here just in case i ever wanted to make a set. i would make it out of cardboard first to work out the kinks. this is not my design. i added some pics to show you different styles. notice on one how the tabs both go in and the other one is in and one points out. one type has an arched front and one is straight. also one has 2 mount holes and the other has 3. if you search you might be able to find the thread that explains it. also i believe there was another one posted with a better more detailed design. http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r20/starcraftier1/scoopdrawing2.jpg

I take that back.. IM starting to like CBD scoops. Tinners look like they sit too low on some but they dont look bad.

Depends on the year also....my 08 for example,the UM racing ones would not work due to a fender brace change....

Dan I got the UM to fit my quad just bent the ears up to be more level and the bolt holes bent in a bit bolted right on.

Took them apart sanded and painted with some spray that O'reily sells. Talk about some tough ****!!!

Same thing everything is painted with

Sanded 3 layers paint 2 layers clear coat painted hubs to match theme.

It really looks better in person as the pic looks kinda washed since it was super sunny and using my phone.

In person it looks sweet.

It tough I took the power washer turned in on jet and help the tip right on the paint wouldnt even budge! lol.

Im gonna buy a powdercoating setup though and later down the road I can strip and just powedercoat.
