what are these shocks for

im new to the whole atv scene and when i got this atv it had these shocks on it.no my ? is whats the point of them?do you put air in them or what?

They are charged with nitrogen. All your shocks are like that besides the air shocks.

Do not try to put air in those. do not try to let any gas out of those. do not even try to check the pressure with a normal tire gauge. you will render them useless.

Well without being able to see more it looks like a tricked out Honda TRX400EX. The Front shocks are from PEP which is pretty much top of the line when it comes to ATV suspension...nice find there. Those are rebuildable to your height and weight if you do not like them as is.

Exhaust is from TC racing these are VERY loud and are not spark arrested... In fact they are too loud for a lot of closed course racing. Top of the line exhaust though, another good find.

A-arms and swingarm look aftermarket, we could probably help you out with more pics... Previous owner did not cheap out on the shocks or exhaust so I'm guessing you have good stuff there also.

Overall this looks like a sweet race bike...nice find!

looks like its a hybrid to me.. maybe a yzf426 motor in there. then again i cant be sure. but it looks like one ot me

Yea that is a 400ex if I ever saw one. Good news and bad, they are easy to work on and very reliable...however that thing is setup for motocross racing and if your planning on trail riding it you are gonna want to get some bigger rear tires/rims or your going to be bottoming out like crazy. If you sell them you should be able to get enough from them to buy a set of trail ones, those are Hyper Carbon fiber rims that are top of the line. Shocks might need worked on too if your looking to get the ride they are capable of giving you. Of course thats only if your not planning on racing it, but who knows?

here is a list of mods the guy i got from emailed me.my other 400ex jetted and pipe can out run this one.could it be set up for mx and needs racing fuel to go faster?i plan on having have hotcam and more work done to make it faster.

Could be geared down for mx, it wont need racing fuel unless he put a high compression piston in it, which I'm sure he would have mentioned that. With that pipe it should have alot of bottom end, which is what you want for mx racing. So it might not have as fast of top speed then a stock 400ex, however if it is sluggish all around it might need rebuilt or could just need tuned (different jets),but either way from that trade you mentioned sounds like you got a good deal.
