Is anyone running a 54-55 pilot in this carb.?

I came to the conclusion that this is what I need to get it right. I got the main perfect at a 190-195. I have a 52 pilot in it now and when I completely tighten the air screw it will not idle, if I let it run and completely opne it to 3 turns out it gets better and better but still pops alittle on decel. I checked everywhere like 12 times and I cannot find any air leaks-anywhere.

Where are you located as far as elevation?? I'm at just about sea level and I have a 55 pilot in mine 2 1/4turns out on the idle screw 200main and works great.

I finally got mine about right, my mods are in my signature, i have 48 pilot needle on the 4th notch from the top, and a 175 main. Im not sure where my fuel screw is. hope this helps. im in central fl as far as elevation goes

Hyper -that is exactly what I was running 175,48 with the stock air box- it was dialed in perfect. I decided to get a oversized aluminum racing airbox with a k&n cover and it jumped me to a 195 main and a 55 pilot!!!

Bam I am located in PA

I have a open aluminum airbox too, with a k&n and outerwears on, i think mine may be a little rich to be honest.

I am running a pro design double foam filter and a K&N cover over the lid of the box- I dont run the K&N filter when I bought the quad it had one on and when the motor was torn down to do the work it had tons of scratches in the intake piston area

I'm running a 48 pilot and 200 main. Clip on the 4th notch.

FWIW: I'm switching over to a 50/50 E85-Premium mix and my starting point for tuning is going to be a 58 pilot and 230 main.

Wow there is so much background noise I cant tell what is what! I can def. hear the popping though when you leave of the throttle that is the problem I am having so I would say you should jump up the pilot. what kind of motor work do you have? I have a 465 stroker. Your current set up is exactly where I am at 195-52 3 turns out my next move is to go a 55 pilot. I think this will solve it for me. Do you a cover for your airbox? try putting that on it. Also you could try a different air filter that would be a little more restrictive-the K&N gives a ton of air flow but in my opinion isnt good in dirty conditions(mud, coal)

make sure you dont have any air leaks with the carb. or intake boot!

i am running an 11:1 stock stroke 426, stage II cam, and the T4 slip-on and K&N/prefilter you see in the vid. i don't have a cover for that airbox. i tried putting a towel over the filter to restrict air but it didn't do much.

i get a ton of backfire when i let off (as you can see from the flame in the vid!), so i almost wonder if my pilot is too rich?
