banshee dosent start

i have a 97 banshee pretty much stock ,no tors
it wants to start but when i press the gas that just kills it. when i kick it over it seems like it will start ,smoke will come out of the exhaust but i need to give it gas and that kills it . i checked the fire and it is good its getting gas any ideas please help

there is a lil black box right under the gas tank...... I think on the left side towards the radiator. Disconnect it and try to start the bike. Also Since you have been trying to start it change the plugs because they are probably wet. Let me know if this works.

i seem to be having the same problem i disconnected the black box and it turned right on but it was full blast what is that box called and is that my problem? if you can help :)
