I bought this a couple of weeks back brand new. First new one ever and I'll be 40 soon!!! I picked up Pro Armor Fat Pegs and their full skid from the Honda dealer. Big discount, but wasn't able to get them thrown in with the $3900 price of the 400ex:) I also put in one of the billet oil dipsticks with the gauge.

Next is the matching swing arm skid, bumpers, and a-arm guards. Once the quad is broke in and the warranty expires, I'll start looking at pipes. It only has about 2 hours on it - to much snow!!

BTW - Pro Armor has a deal where for every $100 you spend, they give you $20 on future purchase. It's for up to $300. My local dealer gave me a good discount, then with the $60 credit, it's pretty good.

nice quad man. what made you pick the 400ex over the 450r when the differance is like 300 bucks?

If you can buy a new 08 450R in CA for $4200, Honda must be desperate. Send one my way:) Not that I want it, but I could make a grand off it. The kick start version is around $5500 for a very good deal and the electric is around $6000. At $5500, the dealer isn't making much. We don't have that many leftover 450Rs around here. It's hard to buy a 07-08 used one for much less than $4500 unless it's really beat/raced. You can get one a bit older for $2500-3000 if it's beat up. Most end up buying those instead of the 400EXs. However, I've rode 450Rs quite a bit and they are not my style. I also wanted reverse.

Have others on the forum seen new 08 450Rs for $4200? I can't imagine them lasting long at that price.

wow.. where did you find that price? I would check again. to make your quote even, 08 400ex's are $4800 with no bs fees. Thats important, make sure they aren't charging you $495 freight and prep. That changes the price. So what your saying the 450 is cheaper. Cant compare an 07 price with an 08.

Back on topic I guess - more mods on the way. Bought a set of 450R front shocks and a steering dampener off the forum.

What brand oil temp gauge is that and how much did it cost? Seems like a cool idea.

yea bro its no lie, i saw a couple going for that price, it was a red tag sale, and i was looking at the new 400ex's right next to it and i was thinking who in the right mind would get the 400ex when the 450 is only a few hundred more. i wish i can take a pic of the price if they arent sold yet, and the sales in california are not doing so well, we had a local honda power sports dealer already close and all parts were 50% which was real great and the quads and motorcycles were going for super cheap! but to be honest i like the 400ex more, its more comfortable and more reliable, the 450's motor is super power full but the power is either all or nothing

The temp gauge is very cool, but a bit pricey -

For exhaust, I would really like the LTE Duals:D Don't know if I'll spend that much when the time comes....

I believe you on the 450s - crazy times right now. Dealers might not be able to keep up with their floor plans. We don't have that many dealers in this area - maybe CA has to many.

Sure - it screws in/out just like stock. It has a mark on the stick for full.
