I have someone that would like to see the ZTR tensioner mounted on a stock swingarm.

I am not at the shop so I don't have access to a pic that he needs now.

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you

Paul that is definitely one of the original ZTR Chain Tensioners!! Haven't seen one of those in quite some time. The new rollers are black and the small tensioner arm now has 3 holes instead of 1 now. It's an oldy but a goody. :D

what about on the new 09 drr they moved the tab do you make a tensioner for that yet

James it still works just fine. Only lost one chain all year and that was because I forgot to tighten the carrier bolts. In my eyes it was money well spent.

I did drill a small hole near the bolt hole and installed a pin thru the tab to stop the tesioner from pivoiting.

The tensioners are being supplied with star washers to prevent any slippage. Install a star washer between the swingarm and small tensioner arm, there have been no problems with this setup.

Thanks,

racer65 sorry about the delayed response been busy getting ready for the Indy Show.

I haven't personally seen a new '09 but I have no doubt that the same chain tensioner will work just as effectively. The tab being moved will not be a problem.

Thanks for the inqiry!

it does cause a problem and the problem is the tab is at the rear of the swingarm and the tensioner need to be used in reverse which take the roller further away from the sprocket which means the chain has more of a chance to jump

Hmmm.....there are 2 springs supplied with the ZTR Chain Tensioner one left-handed and one right-handed. If the tensioner needs to be used in reverse then simply use the opposite spring. There's more than one way to skin a cat or install a chain tensioner. The installation pic above is only one way to install it.

I know for a fact on the '08 DRR there are at least 2 if not 3 tabs where the chain tensioner can be installed.

Thanks,

yes but the 09's they used a square tubing swingarm and the tab is at the rear your missing my point the further you put the roller away from the rear sprocket the better the chance of the chain jumping and coming off

Let's do this do you have any pics of the '09 swing arm.

I am certain that there is more than one tab, correct?

Thanks,

racer65 i am gonna have to disagree with ya, you can not get the tensioner too far away from the sprocket. i run my bad#** ZTR tensioners as far forward away from the sprocket as i possibly can. i think that more forward allows the chain slack to be distributed equal instead of all bunched up at the rear. jmo

Here is a picture I took a couple weeks ago of one of the new 09 DRR 90cc minis that I had in here before the customer picked them up.

Clearly you can see there is at least the one tab up from where you could mount the tensioner pointing rearward with no issues and I am sure there are tabs on the rear where the skid mounts too just as the others do?
