04/5 carb and hrc cam in 06+ 450R

is this a common practice to run? I had not heard of this till the other day and maybe it was a typo?

I had thought the FCR was a better carb than the 04 yes its finicky but I thought it mademore power?
could someone please elaborate on this

Some people think the 06 and newer motors are more tiring to ride so they put 05 carbs on them to slow the throttle response

i had read borich went back on his carb and hrc cam i didnt see the point for someone like him?


i thought the fcr carb was better maybe a little more finicky but more tuneable and makes more power

The 06 carb seems to make more power then the 04-05 but the 04-05 seems easier to tune and runs very smooth! the HRC cam works real good and is one of the better running cams. Sounds like maybe they were going for easy to tune and smooth good power.

With Cross country you don't need the power like you do in mx in cross counrty it just wears ya down faster. It seems we try to keep nice smooth power not to torque.

well i know borich went with a sparks motor so it was doubtfull we didn't use the hrc cam over the sparks

The Sparks cam is just a CRF cam so it's not crazy aggressive like you might think...
