you can polish them but you need to have a lot of tools to strip the coating and polish its not worth it it takes about 2 hours a rim and thats with the right equipment

I used some Mothers on mine and the only thing it did was get it back to the Stock Shine.

Yeah, i use an s.o.s pad on mine and it just took off the stingieness from the coating.
Polishing them is more trouble than its worth, You will have to re-polish them after every ride.

Not that this helps any.... but if you take a picture of your ATV with a flash on a camera it can do wonders..

BTW.. He was just putting it away to his garage, therefor thats why hes not wearing his helmet. We always wear them. We cant find a reason not to.

I have a feeling the above picture is going to be erased. I was reading on another thread and it was talking about the no helmet no pic rule.

Guys, once you get the clear coat off and polish them up the same clearcoat is available for protecting the rim again, which will eliminate the need for refinishing all the time. I have used a product called "teak shield" and have seen it sold in my store for years. It wont yellow, goes on super thin ande will give you the same protective coating...

Got them done. I spent about 3.5 hrs on them. Was it worth my time???? YES!! It would cost me at least 80 bucks for aftermarket ones. I wanted them polished to match my rear polished aftermarket rims. They look great . I will post pics tomorrow.

well i think the coating on them is anodized.....so i could only wire brush it off with a grinder, or sand it off. I actually wet sanded it with 400 and 600 paper, then used a buffing wheel on a bench grinder to polish them out. Oh ya...i took the tires off the rims to do this.

Thats looks so awesome!!! Did you put clear coat on it? Or does it not need it? How long do they stay shinny for? When they start to dull, do you just polish them back up with some mothers or something like that ? Nice work man, that looks beautiful

They won't stay shinny real long if he doesn't put a clear coat over them. I polished my Pipe and it is already not as shinny as when I did it, but like you said just take some Mother's and it's back how it was.

you can take off anodizeing with LYE (RED DEVIL LYE) drain opener. i used to strip anodized paintball gun parts all the time. mix it strong enough and it will take it off in about 30 minutes. just wear rubber gloves. LYE plays H*** on the skin.

Lye...thats interesting thanks. Ya i will have to polish them with mothers every so often...but its ok. I am nuts. I like my quad to bling.
