I just bought a 08 450R and was wondering what kind of chasis and swingarm skid plates everybody is using. I used to have a 400ex and I had DG skids on it and loved them but I can't seem to find them for a 450

I would go either way on that. I have PRM and they are nice skidplates the design makes them very strong. The GTT Guards will weigh less and offer more ground clearance which is nice too. The GTT don't protect as much. What kind of terrain do you ride? If there are rocks and logs flying up I wouldnt want them to hit my swingarm so I would get PRM

In Florida the woods are all sand. I've seen the dual rotor guard get packed with sand and tighten the chain up to the point of it snapping. Otherwise I would run it. It's a nice product.

I ride in slot of woods with stumps and such so I would probably go with PRM or the pro armor. Anybody have pics or a website?

I have a PRM belly skid, GT thunder sprocket gaurd, and rotor gaurd. Pretty happy with them, but has anyone used the tag belly skid?

if money isn't an issue, this is a sweet skid and it won't rattle or break in the cold weather...

The 450r skid plate comes in 2 pieces. It make it easy to remove 3 bolts and drop the portion below the engine when you change your oil. You can drill holes if you want or leave it solid so it slides over everything.

unless tag changed the recipe, they will crack in really cold weather. If you don't ride in the cold then it shouldn't be an issue. I paid $190 plus shipping for my Hyde one that won't crack in the cold but that might have been a special price since they were just getting started with the ATV line.

I have a full set of armadillos on my 2 400's and have been very happy with them. use loctite. I just purchased a full set for my 07 450er from TTS. 249 shipped. can't beat that price.
good luck

we like the PRM skids but wanted more ground clearance and weight savings so we now run the lonestar brake and disk guards and a maier plastic full chassis skid.

I'm not sure I like that design. Seems like it would be easy for a rock or stump to get snagged between the two pieces, where they meet.

I use GT dual sprocket and rotor guard and have nothing but good luck out them. I made a cleaner to clean out the sprocket guard. It hasn't packed up with mud yet, even riding in Tenn. red clay.

Not sure what kind of belly skid I've got, but it's been a damn good one! Bought it from Pappy about 3 years ago I guess.

I think its only the 04-05 Tag skid thats hard to get.
I literally tried for months to get 1 for mine, ordered from like 6 difference places. All either out of stock or couldn't get an answer from tag about getting more.
I thought I found one on Denniskirk, their site said it was for an 05, but when I got it, it was for an 06 -_-

I had to mod and hack the hell out if it, literally had to customize every part and mount on it, but its working fine now =)
Seems to be hold up good so far.

I originally bought a PRM, but it too heavy for my taste and didn't work with my nerfs.

AXP make the best skid plates personally. They have 2 with one being plastic and one being standard aliminium, the mounts to attatch are second to non and takes under 2 minutes to install which is a bonus with these things!! they are number one in europe (the site is in french but check them out) - http://www.axp-racing.com/

I have run with PRM and admit they are good but not as good as these im sorry to say :p
