Which one is the better of the two engines for a hybrid? I am looking at two different quads. First, a Honda crf450/ex conversion. Second, a Yamaha yz426f complete aftermarket. Let me know your opinions. Both quads are race ready mx!!

wow that is a good question. i had a crf450 in a warlock chassis and the power delivery was smooth. ive rode 2 yz 426 quads and the power is different i felt more of a hit like a 2 stroke. that is why im building a yz444 now

Go with the full aftermarket setup. You won't regret getting that over an OEM covnerted frame. YZ's do hit a lot harder.

STROKE DON'T BORE!!!

jason why would you stroke a yz and not bore it?

I actually heard the opposite about stroking the yz engines.
YZ engine are very revy engines and stroking will slow the rpms down, and the big bore usually will not.

As far as the yz426 engines go, dont stroke, done bore! Ive dont both and honestly the power gain, reliability, and cost factor was not worth it in either case. The are more than powerfull enough in both stock bore and stroke size. Throw a good piston in it and get it tuned correctly, and you've got a very strong running setup.

Or just get yourself a yz450f enigine and be done. Ive said it plenty of times, the yz450f 4 speed engine was the best engine ever made to use in a hybrid quad.
