Which truck is the best truck maker out there today ford, chevy or dodge, you can get dodges so cheap but they are terrible on gas, chevy makes nice trucks but expensive and same way with fords, so which trucks get the best gas milage and which one can you get the most life outta, in the 1500, and 2500 class. i like the chevy 2500hd with the 6.0 but issue is they are gas guzzlers and same with the 2500 dodge with the hemi. but dont they now throw in the allison trannys in the 2500hd's?

There is a difference between mpg on 1500's vs 2500's. I suggest looking on there websites and go to a dealer and check them out in person.

If you want a 2500 with mpg, I would suggest a diesel. Best you're gonna get out of a 6.0 is 13 if you hold your mouth right. Truck opinions... Those are fightin words. Chevrolet/GMC is the best. Ford has about the best interior, Dodge has Cummins! What all are you looking for in a truck?

i hate every single truck now days except dodge, even though im a chevy guy, all the new trucks just look so whimpy and the bodys look lumpy and like the ford the bed on the side looks so huge and flat. if i were to ever to get a truck it would be an older, simpler, tougher truck than now days. :chinese:

if i went 2500 it would be diesel becasue a 2500 gas motor would be killer on gas milage, found a good deal an 02 f250 7.3 with 36k on it for 14,000

The biggest Tundra engine gets 14-15 city and 19-20 highway. Not too bad considering I have seen small V8's get around the same or less.

Diesel's can be very expensive to maintain to make it last 300k or whatever. I wouldn't recommend a auto with 180k if your a young person. Could become a money pit:confused:

Just for conversation sake, if you're worried about gas mileage, why are you driving a truck? If you want horsepower, you're gonna eat gas. Personally, I'm from a Dodge family, that's all we've ever driven since 1940 (yes, I know. I hear it from my buddies at work, Dodge trannies are the worst, etcc. etc.. even though they don't even own one or can't tell me who or when had that problem) as far as the foreign auto makes, sure they make nice vehicles, heck my Honda atv's are proof to that. if you're just shopping for a truck and you're undecided, go for the best price you can find. Their all about the same in my opinion.

You do realize that the ford has a 4.6 v-8 and is 2 wheel drive with low friction tires.. It wouldnt even be worth it.

Okay, here is my take on it and my opinion.

I've worked in car dealerships for over 20 years now in the parts department. I have worked with Ford parts now for over 9 years and the last 3 years I've been a parts manager at a Ford dealership. I've also worked with Toyota, Jaguar, Saab, Land Rover, Ford/Lincoln/Mercury, Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep, all GM lines looking up parts and dealing with parts/service and sales.

I currently am a Parts Manager at a Ford dealership and I drive a 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500HD Classic body style with a 6.0 engine.....so what does that tell ya? YES! my gas mileage sucks big time but I love my truck and I got everything on it I wanted. I actually found it outside of Williamsport PA which is in the center of the state and I live outside of Philadelphia and I drove 3 hours one way to buy my truck! Previously I had a Durango with a 4.7L and prior to that a Durango with a 5.9L. The only reason I didn't stick with a Dodge was because all their trucks were boaring to me and all reminded me of the Durango and I had them for 6 years so I really needed a change. My bigges chalenge was since I worked in parts for so long I knew of all the major down falls of all three car lines and I liked a little bit from each manufacturer that is of the big 3. I liked the Ford mirrors and front end, I liked Dodges big rims and tires, I liked the interior of the Chevy truck, I was going out of my mind!

I got to say I seen the new 2009 Ram on display at our local mall and I REALLY am impressed by it and if I was on the market I would give it a serious look! I love the front end, the interior is nice, I still love the big rims and tires. The one on I seen had I think a 5 1/2 foot bed which I didn't like but you may be able to go bigger.

First warning is to stay far far away from the 6.0 litre Ford has out because it is junk junk junk! If you want a Ford than get one with a 7.3 litre. BUT BE WARNED! Diesel parts are expensive and they are alot more dificult to maintian. If you do get a diesel make sure you buy and extended care diesel warranty! It will pay for itself when you need to replace a $800 injector driver module and your deductible might only be $100. Or if you need a diesel injector and their $300-$400 a piece and you need 3 or 4. As far as transmissions go the 4R100/E4OD is a good trans as well as the 5R55E that Ford currently is using. All in all though, vehicles break down, sensors go bad, parts fail, it happens its their nature. Do your normal maintenance, follow the schedule in the owners book, be good to your vehicle it will be good to you as well.

By the way, don't go by the BUY AMERICAN slogan!
Most GM parts come from Mexico so do Ford parts and both get a lot of parts from Canada as well. A lot of parts come overseas as well. don't be fooled. Sure, the vehicle is built here but all the parts come from outside the country. I'm not saying to not support American products but even new vehicles have a label on the window that states a percentage of how many parts come from outside of the U.S.A.. I see parts all day and it says made in China, Mexico, Japan, Germany etc etc.

I did like the older 99-04 F250 Super Dutys and I might start there if you can't go new. Which actually is a good thing because in our area used car prices are cheeeeaaaaaaaaapppp as all get out!

If you are looking at a Ford truck drop me a line, I can help you out with some info on it or if you have some questions PM me.

Dan
