service honda has 3 different parts listed for #21, inner wheel bearing. Which one do I need for a 88R?

There is one part number for the inner and two numbers for the outer.

Either way:
86-87 requires 4 total of #21
88-89 requires 2 of #21, and 2 of #22.

Hope that helps.

racer, you linked to a item no longer for sale...

the stock ones lasted for 20 years, so why not? :)

my question was, if you go look at nearly any parts finder for the front wheel bearings, there are 2 to 3 different part numbers listed for #21: 91053-HC4-000 , 91053-HC4-003, and 96150-60040-10...

which #21 is the right one???

the parts fiche that i've looked at are showing 2 listings for #21 one is for 86-87 and takes 4 and the other is for 88-89 inner and takes 2. #22 is the outter for the 88-89 years. hope this helps.

Tapered rollers should give a higher lifespan over stock ball bearings. There will be some friction penalty for the increased surface area contact. Tradeoffs... Here's a good wiki article to check out:
