^^^My setup is almost identical, except my lights are a little tighter in toward the center.

I'm thinking about using a 200W stator, and adding a second set of lights at my handlebars and using the low-beam setting for one set, and the high-beam setting will turn both sets on.

Trail Tech mounted through the plastics. Instead of using bolts to fasten the plastics to the front, I just use the bolt that's attached to the lights. It fits perfect through the plastics and frame. I put a lock nut on the under side of the plastics. It works perfect, like it was made for it. Also have the 200w stator and a toggle switch located right under the right side of the front plastics, attached to the frame. This way I can switch the lights on or off as I need.

Are those trail techs brighter than the OEM 88/89 Headlight/Hood Setup?

I'm not sure.

I never had the stock lights, I bought it with no lights at all. I put two trail-tech 50W lights (100W total), and that combo was certainly brighter than stock.

But that stator got trashed with my other engine. Since I've gone to two 35W lights, but I haven't been riding with any other 250Rs to compare.

I run the trail tech hid scmr16 in a flood and a spot. Super bright and will blind anyone coming in the opposite direction. Does not even compare to stock. I run them off of 2 small portible batteries (included in light kit) that clip on to my camelback. The run for about 4 hours. They will mount to your helmet or to the bars. I also use them for mountain biking and they have been very reliable. They cost about $600 for the set with everything included.

I bought longer bolts recently to raise the lights up in the light bar, they are 1 3/4 inches higher now and it made a good improvment
