Well i bent my steering stem yesterday, i was hitting a small burm and it gripped and flipped and i went flying. anyway im all right i just bent my stem a bit. I want to know is there any difference in years of the 400ex and the steering stem or will any year work? Also will a 250r or 450r stem fit the 400ex? Also can they be bent back easily?

thanks

Glad you are ok!

I believe they are all the same.

My 400 fliped off the tail gate of my truck and landed upside down on pavemnent and the Bergaurd stem I have bent and we used a 48 ton press and you could never tell it was bent.

Just to clear my name, when I said I thought they were all the same, I meant for all of the 400ex years. Still not 100% sure, but, I'd be surprised if there were any differences through the years.

Here's one on ebay for under 50 "buy it now" + 12 for shipping.

when i rolled mine down a hill this summer i tweaked the stem just under the upper bushing. i found a used one on here but the guy was taking forever to ship it, so i had to end up bending mine back or missing a ride. so i heated the bent area up with a small propane torch, then stuck the stem between the trailer ball and drop hitch receiver on my truck and yanked until it was straight. it took lots of heat, but it got the stem close to straight for the ride. you might see what you can do with yours.
