View Full Version : anyone else's kick start not staying in?

everytime i seem to drive or race my bike the damn kick start will not stay in. i have to keep kickin it back in. and its becoming a problem on the track cause it gets in the way all the time and i cant lean down without sitting on it, its really slowing me down. anyone got any suggestions for this?

Did you recently have the kicker removed? There is a ball and spring in the kicker that keeps it in place when not in use. If these are still in place and it is still causing problems, then it is time for a new kicker. They do wear over time.

Like stated above, there is a ball and spring in there. If you took the kicker off you might have lost it not even knowing it was there. If you never had it a part you need a new spring. I would order a new ball also.

i actually did have it off resently. but it was doing it before that. ill pull it off and take a look then

I had a bunch of 250r, atc200x and 99 yz250(shorty kicker thats used on most hybrids), come loose and flop around. I found the balls at a hardware store and for the spring, I give it a pull and that makes it stiff again. If you call Esr, their kickers for 250r and 250x come with a new spring and ball, they might sell it sperately also.

Try spring and ball if not time for a whole new kicker.Go the spring and ball for my YZ and it helped but im gonna just get a new one.
