Best low cost slip on exhaust? [Archive]

check ebay for hmf sport series. when i had my 400ex i bought a brand new "black chrome" HMF sport for 200. you can find used ones for around 100 bucks. they sound great and give you decent power gains

I would get a LEXX or FMF over an HMF any day. You can get them on ebay for under $200. I also saw a Jardine on there with a buy it now for $169.95.

i like the HMF but for about 10$ more you can get the LRD exhaust which rated first in the exhaust shoot out for the 400ex

that new lexx looks pretty sweet and it has a lifetime garuntee (sp). alot of them fall apart after a while.

Agreed! The reason I went Lexx was I wanted an exhuast for 200 or less and I didnt want to have to drill out rivets to repack it. The Lexx is a breeze to service and sounds good. I like the HMF's myself but the ones I saw you have to drill out rivets to repack them.

are you talking about just a slip on or is this a full system??? if just a slip on them what would be the best pipe to have for max power on the 400ex with this LRD slip on? thanks

well you can get a full system LRD exhaust for under 400 bucks for the money it really is the best pipe. and for the slip on it will still give you added proformance. when dirt wheels had the shoot out it was the full system but they also tested just slip-ons and the LRD came out on top.

but i think you can get just the pipe, you will just have to look around.

i would but i read it in a magazine and to be honest i really dont remember what issue it was i think it was in one of last years dirt wheels but im not really sure sorry..

I bought the Lexx. It is really a nice pipe. The quality looks great and I have a very good sound. I also got the spark arrestor with it because it comes with a quiet core. Made my 400 sound great and gave me that extra punch.

So I was looking at this months dirt wheels, and I saw a picture of a past issue that said 400ex pipe shootout. It is March of 2001.

Same here, price is right, quality is awesome and sounds great. Lexx atw.
