Anyone do any mods to stock shocks yet on the yfz450r. For a 125lbs rider with the shocks set up as soft as they can go they are still too harsh..
Is it possible to get some of the nitrogen out of the shocks??
Guess i will check for weaker springs also.

Do you want to modify your stock shocks or change shocks all together? I just purchased Long Travel shocks and arms for mine. I went with Lonestar DC-4 and Elka shocks, they were 21 inch long!

Racetech and GT Thunder are doing conversions on the stock shocks.
If you have done so already, back off the preload on the springs all of the way. that will soften it up a little more.
DO NOT try removing any nitrogen from the shock.

i took the stock rear shock off and wow the eye to eye is the same as the elka rear i was running on my 2006 yfz (19 inches). The top might need a couple of washers to take up the 5mm of space. The shock looks similar except the bottom, the part that screws on to the shaft is for sure different. Even the spring is the same diameter. Too bad the bottom part off the stock shock wouldnt fit on the elka, i would give a try. I am sending the rear out to get revalved and re sprung, ill see how that goes.
