Just plain old steel.

LSR makes a full chromoly frame for $2300

i believe ktms are the only stock frame that comes chromoly, unless its aluminum like kawi,can-am etc.

is chomoly lighter and sronger? What is the weight difference from the lsr and the stock frame?

I don't know what if any weight difference there is between LSR and the stock frame. I do believe that chromoly is not truly lighter than steel, it is stronger than steel therefor what ever the item is that is being made of chromoly can be of thinner material yet providing the same structural strength. This will in turn make the item of chromoly lighter than the exact item made of steel. I don't know if this is the case with the LSR frames, they may just take advantage of the material strength and make it the same thickness as stock, therefor being much stronger but retain the same weight.

I broke a few stock atc250r frames, its like sheet metal. Even now, the metal that is used isn't much better. I had a frame made for my atc250r(broke 3 stock ones), its made of 4130 chromoly, almost 3 times as thick as stock steel and 8 times stronger. My frame ended up weighing 6 pounds more than a stock frame. If the guy wanted to, he could have made it the same thickness as stock, it would have been 3-4 times stronger and lighter than the stock frame.

You ever see what the tubing that laeger double wall frames are made off? its easily 1/4", mine is made from the same stuff. Ktm is the only company that sells a chromoly frame, chromoly swingarm, chromoloy steering stem and chromoly a-arms. All the others are made from aluminum(for the uppers) or thin steel for upper and bottom. Most of the swingarms are aluminum and now the frames are being made from aluminum and being screwed/riveted together. Funny, the steel frames are just as strong and lighter. Aluminum needs to be twice as thick to equal the strength as steel frames.

I have a lsr baja chassis, its clearly heavier than my stock trx250r frames. Between the roll design a-arms, lsr swingarm, lsr frame and even with 400ex spindles, the stock framed trx250r is lighter. Keep in mind, I have a t-pin front end, also.
