I just bought a new 400ex, so I'm going to try and get rid of this project. I took is 100% apart, stripped the frame, primed, and then painted. I also did the same to the A-Arms. The A-Arms have new bushings installed. I have every part except for piston/rings/cam. The motor top end went, so I picked up a very good used stock bore cylinder and head. It has Pro Taper bars, DG nerfs, oversize tank, and almost new plastic (1 small burn from pipe).
I decided to redo the quad, then a few weeks ago, I found a good deal on a 07 400EX - so now it's for sale. I did most of the hard stuff - old bearing removals, stripping, cleaning, etc:D
Price is firm - if you are mechanical, it only needs about $150 in parts and then put back together and then it's a $1200+ quad. Spend a few hundred more and put in a 330-350 big bore kit!!
