yeup thats the best way.....naw j/k ive heard breakin it in like ur gonna ride it. but not wide open for so many hrs. or so. i did a lil woods ridin, a lil road ridin (at constand speed) bout 3/4 throttle then mash on it every once in a while then do a lil ridin on a lil track (people build play tracks around the house n stuff) id vary the ridin so it does good in so many yrs down the road.

When I did my 440 Powroll suggested I ride for about 10 min. slowly accelerating to about 3/4 throttle followed by a 30 min. cool down. By doing this a few times they said I would heat treat my new parts, letting them expand and contract. hope this helps.

eldorado rider, that is pretty much what you DONT want to do

NEVER ride at the same speed during break-in

Heat cycles and different speeds are the key to a good break in. If you don't break it in properly, you will not have a reliable motor and will be spending money on worn parts

Just don't let it sit an idle,,no matter what..

i was told when i got my motor back to let it idle for 10 minutes, then let it cool down untill you can touch it with your hands and not get burned(repeat process 4 times) then ride it around short shifting for 15 minutes, let it cool down untill your can touch it(repeat process 3 times, then its ready to go

Heres some more info to rattle your brain....

I picked up a Polaris Predator today. The break in procedure calls for mild operation for one hour, change the oil....then your good to go.
