Is It Normal For The Header Pipe To Glow Red

IS IT NORMAL FOR THE HEADER PIPE TO GLOW RED AFTER RIDING FOR 20MIN........IM THINKIN THE JETS ARE NOT RIGHT........THE GUY AT THE HONDA SHOP TOLD ME THAT THIS IS NORMAL FOR ALL 400EX, AND THAT IS INCLUDING STOCK 400'S.....IS THIS TRUE OR HAS ANYBODY HAD THIS PROBLEM TOO?

At night it probably will...i have seen some pics on here where they are cherry red....but the pic was at night.

on thin aftermarket pipes yes....but the thick stock header shouldn't really glow....on 450's they will glow....but a 400 really shouldn't be glowing TOO red...I guess it's a matter of knowing if your fuel mixture is correct...if it is, then ride on...but if it's lean...

i've got 2 400ex one's stock and the other one is set up for serious woods riding and neither one has ever done that and i ride in the early morning's and late at night

All quads that come off the showroom floor are carbed on the lean side.

Any quad expecially one that hasn't been rode in awhile will glow red its a very common thing no big deal.

nothing to freak about, mine gets cherry red after about 20 mins of riding too, i have just about after market everything so that is a factor, but even when it was stock it would glow, i mean if you want to go and try to ritchen the carb out then i guess you could, but i wouldnt worrie about it

yeah i got the 440 kit, its runnin 13-5 to 1 compression, stage 2 hot cam, hot rod crank white bros hi rev box, 450r carb with stage 2 dynojet kit, head is milled and has a full race port and polish! full lrd exaust.... and it was put on the dyno it produced 42hp bought it that way and just went out to ride it and it was cherry red, got worried, but gonna pull it apart and check the jets make sure it isnt runnin lean!:D
