it's a brace or object that helps take stress off a structure.. pretty much on a quad it's a metal brace that help renforce a weak area

usually a triangular plate welded in the corners of the frame joints, they help spread the pressure out, therfore making the frame stronger. they can also get rid of flex if you put them in the right spots
