you can get a decently fixed up yfz450 or 450r cause stock just sucks :p but thats just what id get or heck even a new bike but not a two stroke but whatever you get i wouldn't pay all for it so when you get it you can fix it up how you want it... oh yah i seen this for sale for 3,200 and this shows how nice of a thing you can get with that little of money

Still not sure im getting the 450, I dont want to dump $ into something thats going to be in the trails and hitting rocks, sticks, mud. Im thinking like maybe a 400ex or ltz400

both good choices. they both have power, but nothing compared to a 450. they also dont require as much matinece as the 450's.

Thats why I think I might stay away from the 450s

check your local craigslist. they always have good deals on there. 450s here are 3-4k and 400s are 2-3k. you could find about anything you want. only quad i would avoid is honda 450r.

If you're trail riding, are you going to want reverse? I have a Z 400 and rode with a buddy of mine on a YFZ 450, screw that getting off to turn around crap. Just a thought.

Whats wrong with the 450r?

crixal

don't want to start an arguement, but my personal opinion i would avoid it. if you're looking for a 450, get the yami or suzuki. if you're looking at 400s, get the z400. no reverse in the trails isn't a big deal to me. it made me a better rider. you just have to pick better lines. i feel more comfortabe on my ds than i did on my 400ex in the trails.

yeah, I just dont want a 450 becuase so much maintaince in them. With my old 400ex just change oil and air filter.

a 450 is just like any other quad if you take good care of it. there is just so many idiots out there that have them. they ride the crap out of it and don't do proper maintaince on them.

No matter what I have a baby it, sometimes open it up and go fast. I change my oil about 2-3 rides regardless.

theres not a single thing wrong with a 450r

For 3500-4000 you have a lot of choices open.

For trails and high-speed, here's my choices in order.

1) Raptor 700. Not as high-tech or stressed of an engine as the 450 so less maintenance, 700 power, hop-up capabilities, and the suspension is much improved over the 660's. They make an awesome trail quad and they're fast as hell.

2) 250R. Similar chassis to the 400ex and not too shabby in trails, fun as heck to ride (2-stroke) and not that much maintenance. One of the most reliable 2-strokes made. Will give you that thrill of speed with decent trail capabilities.

3) Z400. Liquid cooling, decent power, and gas shocks. Also, reverse.

For 4G's in this economy, I'm sure you can find a nice 700.

"new" blaster? What the hell is a new blaster.

He's looking for a big fast sport trail quad. Blaster is more of a beginners trail quad. I had one, loved it, but it wasn't all that good for his budget

Yes, I had a Blaster already hated it on trails but liked it being so light and quick

What about a Raptor? I rode a new 700 and really liked the lowend power. I could see this being a really good trail quad, other than the weight.

I think he means the 03-06 blasters. Better breaks and styling.

Anyways I think a raptor 660 would suite you well. You can find them for around $2500 Or maybe a trx250r good handling, power, and a ridiculous amount of go fast parts available.

Not really. I don't know about where you live, but up here you can score some low-hours stock raptor 700's for 4g's.

looking good. the only thing id change is those mudflaps and bumper. what kind of tail light is that?

01-28-2009, 05:06 PM
Thats not an FMF exhaust, thats a 450r stock silencer.

But thats okay, they are actually better looking then the stock 400ex exhaust, and if you put the 450r's HRC tip on it it's basically an aftermarket exhaust!

Pretty neat actually. Wanted to do that when I still had a stock exhaust
