looks like a great start, what all you changing up? im doing the same thing with my bike over the next few weeks (its almost mechanically new or rebuilt only a couple rides, but its getting new graphics, new colors, and new PC and some other small things ive been meaning to change...)

Is that your shop or Norris`s ?

kodymx13
01-18-2009, 09:10 PM
no its my shop. we 'used' to run small atv shop and thats eithe rout stuff or stuff people wont come get.

im repowdercoating everything black. i like it simple. new plastic. freshen up the head and trying to talk my girlfriend into a dasa.

What's the deal with that rear shock mount?

Rootar
01-19-2009, 05:00 AM
that rear hoop of the frame was done for intake clearance, but the rear shcok mount does look moved slightly higher, but it looks just like my prp in the rear but i have an 04 crf450 rear linkage on mine (almost identical to the coveted cr500 link setup).

kodymx13
01-19-2009, 07:23 AM
its a 500 link. love it.

400exMO
01-19-2009, 09:17 AM
Who converted that?

Sandsjbyz22
01-19-2009, 09:54 AM
Jody used to make whatever setup you would like with a frame. For instance Mine is a 250R geometry front and standard link rear (We intially almost tried the YZ450 link from the dirtbike). One of the first CR link's he did had 400ex front geometry. My buddies CRF had 250r Geometry front with the CR rear link. All his frames accepted 400ex cosmetic parts much like the Fischer quads.

kodymx13
01-19-2009, 12:06 PM
thats how mine is. it uses a 250r front end "pro trax" a 400ex middle and a cr500 link rear. and it accepts 400ex parts. it original was a yz frame but i rode both motors and liked the crf better plus the crf was easier to get for me. "my motor builder had one sitting in a crate in his floor" so i just made my own motor mounts and moved others.

id also like to add. i WILL NEVER RIDE another production quad ever again.

kodymx13

the rebuild is on hold for now. things at work have really slowed down. so the money i had saved up im just gonna sit on it for a while. it sits right now a frame with a motor in it.

250Renvy
01-21-2009, 09:15 PM
That looks pretty cool. I didn't know that about JB frames. When I got my frame made, I didn't even know they actually made frames, I thought they were all conversions.

I opted for the 400ex body work as well (way cheaper), but went with 450R front and rear.

I can't wait to actually get going on my build.

kodymx13
01-21-2009, 09:24 PM
there are a couple jb's on the site. their not as mass produced as say a lsr or houser. i think most were for yz motors if not all.

all the jb frames are 400ex/250r geometry and use 400ex parts and body. i just liked the new style plastic better and i could make it look similar to a 450r. then i added some more touches to it.

Sandsjbyz22
01-22-2009, 11:06 AM
Yeah most of his frames were for the yz engines. A few CRF's were done in the shop along with one KTM. One of the first frames was all 400 Geometry but for a 300ex engine.

Many companies made them, not sure if any are still making them. Hre will custom build a frame, jb will sell conversion kits for a stock frame. Best thing to do is pick up a used one.

kodymx13
01-23-2009, 06:15 PM
IF you want a jb ull have to call them. ive heard they keep every jig theyve ever had so they can make anything. lsr makes 400ex and 250r i think. then houser's are 250r. just do some research.

2 years ago a JB Frame with 250R geometry in the front with the CR link in the rear was $3000. Like said before you would have to call Jody to see if he would still build one. (814)922-3523

its amazing what you can do when your gf just off and leaves you this week and you have a free weekend to work on your pride and joy. i returned the favor though.

i stripped all the stickers off just to keep it plain. new plastic should be on it soon with other little things. i switched from an aluminum pro to a rossier. the WB pipe was good and smooth and with the rossier all hell just might break loose. not to mention it just sounds MEAN  i could tell that with just 4 trips across a parking lot with grass.

and please excuse my tuner mr norris here. hes been around race fuel way to much.......

Hey good looking bike man. I've got acouple questions for ya.

What bike are those exhaust pipes coming off of? Are they a direct bolt up? I'm looking to get something different than my Hmf/Midas pipe lol. I was told my 400ex slip on, with an 05 450r headpipe was a direct bolt up, but it wasn't. What year frame do you have? I have an 03.

Also what grab bar are you running? And what upper motor mounts do you have? I am running stock crf450 mounts.

Are you still running the spaced out rear sprocket? I took your advice and spaced mine out with washers. I'm still looking for a better setup though.

Also are you running a quad tether kill swith? Thanks for any help.
I'm still jealous of that suspension setup your running. I bet it rides like a cloud!!

kodymx13
02-22-2009, 07:46 AM
its a rossier from from a 04-05 450r. i had to make my rear mount but its just an S bracket from the 400ex mount to the muffler. im not sure what year the frame is. i made my grab bar. i flipped it end over end last rear and folded up my old one. its the one the slides in the subframe and doesnt bolt like the traditional bar. as far as upper mounts im making some right now. i had been running one crf bracket spaced out on one side then alittle bent piece of aluminum on the other side. all i have on the rear sprocket is a washer in between. and never had chain problems. soi guess when when the frame was converted from a yz to a crf somebody did a good job. ;) . i always run a kill switch. i really dont want this thing getting away from me. and a cloud it is. just a stiff cloud.... professor norris needs to kick my *** up to his shop and get it softened up. but i have a track here that has a huevos style step up mount jump and we measured it to 150 and i can land at bottom and not feel a thing.

racernorris
02-22-2009, 08:17 AM
jb built the frame for a yfz motor, later we changed the mounts over to crf, cr500 link rear, 250r geo. front, 400ex plastic mounts. it runs a yfz radiator. on the grab bar, jb sub frames do not accept stock style grab bars. cody can takes some pics of the set up.

i attempted this last year but ran out of money, i just redid the motor and put it back together.

all chassis will be gloss black. white maier 2 piece fenders. (i like clean and simple) black pc'd odds and ends. new nerfs. something big pegged and n heel guards. new axle. all new bearings in rear end and in protrax when i can find them. i run a rossier now but came across a good used dasa for a deal so ill get it and run both. new razrs all around. and a few other useless goodies i find all the way.

took a weekend vacation and came home to a coupleboxes of parts. all my rear end bearings in and swingarm is on. finished up the protrax up front and greased everything. my new red billet timing plugs and oil plugs came in (very slick) found a friend of mine that had a dasa i picked up REALLY CHEAP. it was beat up pretty bad with one dent and several small ones, plus the usually black canned dasa burnt powder coat. i took it all apart (NO PACKING who'da thunk?) sanded all the black off now im going to polish it. also will have to make new brackets because it fits alittle different then my rossier. plastic might be here by wednesday. and... i was going to take my time and aim for febuaryish but i now have a deadline. this thing has to be rolling out door by jan 9th. so ill use acouple old parts untill i get new.

im going to call him up when i get an idea (i have a thing for flames)and some extra money saved up. ill definetly have some by race season.

oh and btw i added up the total of everything and its alittle over $900. i had about 850 budgeted so i think i did pretty well. just need graphics. and new front tires. but my sx's arent to bad for now.
