Shipping a Quad

I am looking for advice on shipping a quad from Iowa to Nevada. The motorcycle frieght companies want in excess of $500. Has anyone had experience with motor freight companies? What is the best way to prepare the quad for shipping?

we built a platform/crate type thing for it to sit on with room for a forklift to pick it up... strapped the quad down to it then wrapped the whole quad with alot of saranwrap

Sounds good... And what company did you use to ship it with and an approximate cost?

sorry but the last time we shipped a quad was over 2 years ago, i forgot how much it was and what company we used

I think it is called u ship it .com or something like that, they actually have guys bidding on your shipment, I believe it is thru ebay. We shipped a quad from PA. to Orlando fla last year $250,
