need a little computer help

I'm usually pretty good with computers but i'm kinda stumped on this. a few folders and 2 h.d's on my computer have the names written in blue why is this....

It means the files and folders are compressed. When you do a disk cleanup, one of the options it presents is to "compress old files" You must have left that checked the last time you did a disk cleanup.

If your running XP Pro and you see them in green it means the files are encrypted.
