View Full Version : Headlight mod for TRX90 ?

I realize that almost all of the 90's on here are fully tricked out racing machines, and have no need for a headlight.

But My daughter is just learning to ride, and nowhere near the racing scene. We will be doing strictly family pleasure riding, open desert, trails, and maybe some mountain fire roads.
We will never see a track.

I would like to install a headlight(s). and would like to know how many watts the stock battery and stator can handle safely, without doing any damage to the battery/stator.

I want to do it as cheaply as possible, and may even do a single light similar to the cheap automotive type fog lights.

most of the ones I've seen are 55w each, and use a H3 bulb.

I'm wondering if changing to a H3 bulb in a 35w version,(for two lights),

or if using a single 55w will be ok on the electricial system.

btw- her quad is an '06 w/electric start.

Thanks, Ron

Give Ricky Stator a call, they have the set up for the 06-07's and I believe their stator will be needed for the lights.

My brother has an 06 that he put a single 55w driving light that he bought from a automotive store. He also added a single red clearance type light for a taillight with no stator mods at all & it works great.

Headlights are 25w each 1 flood 1 spot

Never have had a battery issue with it!

My friend tried this without stator and his battery lasted about 45minutes

The switch is from parts unlimited universal trx switch in the ATV catalog most any dealer can get

Thanks for the replies guys,

Mcstore,
what was the total cost for the stator, reg.,top clamp, and lights?

BTW, nice looking 90 you've got there, is that the 300ex a-arm conversion?

I believe it was about $300 to $400 after all was done

1 - RSTRX90-B stator & reg $125
1 - light kit $80
1 - top clamp $80
1 - switch kit $45
1 - forgot something I'm sure! $100

The suspension is Robbs Racing

Very pricey!

But way better than the 300EX conversion

Check this out my son 6yrs old racing 13yr old same quads the only differance is he has $1500 more in suspension the 13yr old has the 300EX conversion!

6yr old is in front the whole race and this was just after his 6 lap moto for his age class!

FYI we don't use the light while racing!

WAAAAAYYY COOL!!!
He's tearin' it up pretty good!

I'm just hoping to get my daughter (8yo) out on hers some this summer, and the goal will be learning how and when to shift.

so far, she has only ridden it once around the back yard for a few laps.
