This is what i have just found out... To get more top end power from your DS, remove the inlet cam and replace it with a stock DS450 exhaust cam. Press the auto decompressor off and advance (anti-clockwise) the outlet cam 1 tooth. This will boost torque and top end HP.....

I havnt had a chance to dyno yet but will be doing this mod to my 2009 DS x MX once i get it next week

I was wondering if anybody has heard of this yet or better yet, tried it...I will keep you all informed of what i find....

why, the ds needs more bottom end not top

That depends on what type of riding you do..! As well as what gearing you run and how you ride, I dont seem to find a problem with the bottom end, i like to ride the DS in the higher RPM range. This mod also increases torque from the bottom to top...!! Just some info for some guys to use....

DGS, have you seen an inlet/exhaust cam side by side?

its not as simple as you make it out to be. the inlet cam needs quite a bit of modding to get the auto decomp to fit in there.

it can be done but not by the average joe.

The Auto decompressor sits on the exhaust cam..
Basically you will be running 2 exhaust cams in your DS, just dont install the auto decomp on the exhaust cam that is now inplace of your inlet cam. Leave the Exhaust cam as is with the auto decomp on.
Let me know if you are still confused....

sorry, my bad.

i got excited reading your post and thought you meant use an inlet cam on the exhaust side and was thinking of how to mount the decomp to the inlet cam:huh
