400ex rebuild

Yeah, I just bought a 400ex and it is burning a little oil. My plan is to rebuild it for the spring. I am going to have it bored to a 416 and use the wiseco piston 10:1 kit. I also want to put a stage 1 or 2 hot cam in it and a stage 1 or 2 dynojet kit in it. My quad has a full DMC alien exhaust and an unmodified air box. I was wondering if the stage two hot cam and stage 2 dynojet kit would work even with a stock air box. If not can somebody tell me what a good combo would be between a cam and jet kit.

as for the cam i feel it has to do with what kinda riding you do. tight woods, highspeed, etc. If you ride a mix then i'd say the stage2 cam. You won't lose much low end due to the higher comp piston.( I would go with the 11.1 comp piston) As for the jet kit i don't know what you mean by stage 1 or 2. it sounds like a marketing thing to me, stage1 has smaller number jets and 2 has the larger ones depending on how many mods were done to the motor.

id go with the stage 2 hot cam but i dont know about the jet kit either.stage 1 cams are low end power and stage 2 is for more top end power.id also get the crf450 dirtbike timing chain too so its more reliable.its cheaper than stock and its alot stronger so it wont stretch.

Thanks for the help fellas. I got the quad all tore apart and ordered the parts today. I am going with the stage 2 cam and wiseco 416 piston kit. I also ordered the crf450 cam chain and it was about half the price. Before long I will be tearin it up and pissin off the neighbors.

Can someone tell me if the crf450 timing chain is the same for all years? I have a 2005 400ex and would like to make the upgrade but I don't know what year 450 timing chain to order...Also, any suggestions on who to buy it from for a decent price or should I just look on ebay?
