I am interested in building a LT80 motor to replace 125 in my sons typhoon. The bike has had one trip to glamis and is having trouble keeping up with the other LT80s in the sand. CT Racing claims"it will get a 100-pound kid up Oldsmobile Hill, no problem. "

Does anyone have any input?

Would a 160 big bore kit on the 125 run about the same as a fully built LT80?

No dad wants to see their kid at the back because his bike wont keep up.

Welcome to the forums. :)

""CT Racing developed their engine package for the AMA superstock class. This stout engine package has registered countless National victories""

I can tell you that since 1995, there has been zero/non/nada CT motor wins (mini) at the nationals.
You going to to Glamis? Glamis is awsome.
Yes, there are LT80's go up olds, It takes a minute and they sound busy doing it. LOL
I have plenty of motors in the sand. They love em. :)

I can personally vouch for LT80's motors. Just got mine back last week. It rocks!! It will now climb hills that it couldn't touch before!

Has anyone ever put a fully built LT80 motor in a typhoon?(14+HP, 12K+RPMS)
My friend Brian from the Orange County ATV Riders Assoc. said he could install it. Sounds like LT80 can build it. Back to the question, does anyone have a motor for sale or a wrecked bike that I can salvage a motor from?

Thanks, but my son really likes his typhoon. I would just like it to keep up in the sand. how does your built LT80 compare performance wise to a stock one, or a built 125,140,160 typhoon?

it was just abought lapping the 150gpx with a better rider at the flat track race tell Hans ported the head and lightened the flywheel then it was a fair race then he put the 160 in and he won 1 race for the year :) but his son is a better ridder than my girl he still wasnt pulling her that I could tell. the biggest difference is he has to pack a full tool box with him and the tools I pack are the ones I loan to him. when we go to the sand he had a very hard time tell he put some sand ribs tires on the front on the typhoon and that helped and skattrack's gliders on 125 rims on rear helped it a ton. dont know what motor he had that weekend 150 or 160 got around fine everywere I saw em. a 160 with a bigger pipe and carb should be around 7to 1000$ and some shocks and a steering damper will make it a ok quad if ya can turn a wrench. the new pitser quad looks nice also.

Sounds like a built LT80 is a better overall motor for the sand. I just need to find a motor and talk to LT80 about building it.
