Need opinion, should I trade for lt250r?

So I have this 300ex with a lot of time and passion into it. I finally got everything running buttoned up etc. Someone on CL wants to trade me for an 86 LT 250R with a complete rebuild and new plastics

Here is a list of the work done

its been bored 30 over with a new wiseco pro lite piston and rings, a stage 1 porting, new boyesen power reeds, new wiseco hot rod and crank, all new bearrings and seals, whole complete dirt digger clutch set up, full FMF exhaust, new sprockets and K&N air filter motor alone was $1173.00 to rebuild and the port and polish was an additional $300

I have a lot into my motor as well..

I am worried about the noise level, I ride trails and dont want anything annoying and loud... What would you do? Apparently the 250r is crazy fast,

I wouldn't do it. You might be trading for a quad with lots of issues. It sounds like your is fast and reliable. Also, the 250 is going to noiser than your 300 and not as good on the trials.

Anyway, keep the EX.... If the 250 was a TRX i would say go for it (hehe) but its not and you know whats going on with your 300. You dont wanna get stuck in a trail with a machine you dont know spit about.

I decided to keep the 300.. BTW the 250R is crazy fast and would smoke my 300ex. JMHO..

no i wouldnt trade.i traded my 00' 300ex with any and everything you can do to one for a completed trashed and stripped stock 04 450r.

I loved my 92 LT250 .... the thing ran like a charm after I got it set up properly and she was FAST. I had the motor done by LRD with their National Kit and piped .

I put it head to head with a piped and mildly worked Banshee that my buddy owned and I took him by a few lengths everytime we raced. He was an experienced rider also. The 92 had Powervalve.

The first gen LT's('85&'86) weren't very good. A later one would be a good deal.

Keep the 300 EX. My friend has an 85 LT250R and it's not too impressive. My warrior will just about smoke it.
