did you check the tranny oil level in it?does it do it all the time or just comes and goes?

more than likely you have a bent shift fork. When you tear it a part replace all the shift forks and check the gears for wear. Also change the crank bearings while you are in the case....

same hapened to mine, cept after lil bit 5th went out completely and so did 4th n it was stuck in 3rd,u cld shift btween 3rd n 4th but 4th was like nuetral.tore it apart and the one shift fork had gotten so hot it bent and i guess the gears wore down on it n it was all mangled up n there was shrapnel in the oil filter and motor too soo yeah it'll be the shift forks

well i have done a couple now. found that the 04-05 tranny def holds together better. the 06 and up just like have every gear with damage. the 04-05 just have usually half the damage.
seems that most of the center fork is usually the culprit. i check everything and if theres rounding its in the trash!!!!!
do all the forks and drum no matter what!!

and buy the correct tools its so much easier!!
