My son is currently on a red cat meercat 50 and it is WAY too small. He has actualy been on this quad since he was 3 and is now 7. He doesn't like to race, but like to ride on the MX tracks and just general riding. Would the 90 be too much for him? Basicaly, is it overkill since he isn't into racing? Should I just look for a used TRX 90 instead?

If your going to get a Typhoon you may as well get the 125. My son has been on it since he was 6. If you can find a TRX for a nice price that's not a bad choice either.

well i have both and if youre sure you are not going to race i would buy the honda 90. every kid in the neighborhood likes the 90 better, because it is a smoother ride, shifts easy, has a easy throttle, just a easy atv to ride, plus the the honda parts are easy to get anywhere. but if you plan to race i would go with the xtreme 125. it would cost at least in my opinion $2000 just for suspension on the honda and another $1000 to 2000 for engine on the honda. the xtreme just needs better shocks and about $500 worth of engine parts.

I would go with the 125, but here in Oregon, the new law states that anyone under the age of 12 is not allowed to ride anything larger than 90cc.
