chain question???

hello....just a quick dumb question...all I do is race my 400....do I need to use an o-ring chain or can I use a non o-ring?? I have heard of some guys using wd-40 for lube..good -vs- bad??why???

I would just get another O-ring. A lot less maintenance and if it was better to have a non O ring I think Honda would've put it on there to begin with.

I use a small amount of chain lube on a o ring chain. It tends to gum up if you use too much and make a o ring kink up. I use wd 40 sometimes. I clean the chain every once in a while with mineral spirts. A o ring chain will last longer than a non o ring, But non o rings will last a long time if you stay on top of them with regular maintenance.
No chain will last if you do not take care of it.

I dont think you're suppose to use wd40 on your chains. I use Chain and Cable lube on mine, u can find it in walmart or anywhere.
