Thinking of picking up an 06 450er, and I have a few questions. Are the 06+ any less relaible than the 04-05's? How quick do the valves wear in the 06+ years? Do they need frequent adjusting? How long can you usually go before needing a valve job?

frames last the same,- they crack,, the trannys go on the 06 07 after hard race or hard rec abuse of 30-40 hrs (dependent on rider) ,, and titanium intake valves...... well i get about 35 hrs and replace them to be damn sure . , the swingarms are better, the rear plastic always busts at the subframe mounts, the carbs are way better,,,, intake is bigger.

i have ran 06 up trx450er/r since march 06 racing mx... just what i kno...

ohh... and 06's also had a thumb throttle recall... and a starter clutch premature wearout...

I Have an 07 and i ride the piss out of it.
I raced 2 seasons on mine woods and mx and this year i adj. the valves for the first time
This year i ran A class and ran over 20 races and iv not had any problems at all none.
also i think the compression is high on the 06+. it is 12:1 and the older i think is 11:1..
so i think youd be safe to get an 06+
