450r hood on 400ex?

first of all i want to thank all of the members here for answering all of my probabally annoying questions. you have probabally heard all of these a million times haha

well i want to know how you put a 450r type hood scoop on a 400ex. ive seen it done, but this one is a 2002 with racecuts on it, they are not stock plastics. i think they are maier racecuts. i love the look of the hood scoops. and would like to know how this is done.

i think the 250r hood scoop looks the best or if you want to pay over a 100 you can get a quad tech carbon fiber hood scoop but my 55 dolla scoop looks good enough to me here is a picture not the best picture but u c what it looks like

what mods did you do to make it fit?

first i had to cut the lights out and then put it on to see where it would look best and then marked the holes with a marker and cut as needed, you should know what to do if you get one and under the scoop the scoop i took all the plastic away so its a functional scoop + it looks badass. you should do it :macho

yeah the only difference between ours is i have racecut plastics.

Here's my race cuts with 250r hood. I'd never go back to carbon after flipping it last year.

Here is my "00" EX with the 450r hood on it. It's a tight fit but take your time ,measure alot to keep on your marks. I did this last winter and ran xc last season and it held up great. it is a maier c/f design hood.

i found a dicontinued 250r hood by maier. it looks cool. i can get it in black or white. i'd prob get it in black. and paint it. here, what do yoyu guys think. would it look good? its only like 40 with shipping.

So do you cut the plastic completly out or does it go over the plastic?

Supposedly is you have the 05-07 fenders they fit right in with removing the headlights. If you have anything older than a 05 then yeah you can put it over the plastic. I would cut out the plastic wherever your scoop is so you dont see it through the scoop though.

I like them. I used to run 20 Razrs in the rear and these work a lot better, they are a lot lighter.

why would you want a 450 quadtech hood on a 400ex? if you're going to cough up the money for a quadtech, wouldn't it make sense to get one made for the 400?

Yeah that is true also. Although after having one and then having a 250r plastic I would never own another carbon one. They totally get screwed up after a roll over. :(

QT never made a hood for 05 and up 400exs. which is what suicude has.

Man am I loving those red/black color schemes posted by Moose and Suicide! Those look great! I wish my quad looked half that good, but I bought it used for cheap since it was wrecked...and since then have rolled it multiple more times... I get a little crazy from time to time :) Still Runs like a bat out of hell though. Gotta love honda!

i think 450r hoods look great. no offense intended, but i just don't think 250r hoods look "finished" on a 400.

Yea tell me about it, one mishap and your money is down the drain.:( . I ran in the back of a king quad and shattered the area around the grille.

Yeah that's what I did cut a little off the bottom and you'll be fine.

i found a guy that is parting out his 450r and i have good luck, i asked him how much he wanted for his hood. he said 40. and its a quadtech hood.

if you put a 250r hood on you dont have to trim any off the front at all cause it fits just right i thought on mine,

You probably don't have to cut any off but the way we had the 400ex QT on it we had too.
