I like the gsxr750 and the cbr. I love cbr's in white and the paint scheme of the gsxr750.

i agree.

heres a question.

i am new to the scene of bikes, what is considered high mileage?

most of these bikes have around 8k or less. that's like nothing right?

i thought u only wanted a 600 the third is a 750:confused:

o yea thats right. i was really just trying to stay around 600. i didnt want a 1000 or anything. sorry about that.

2 more questions.

how they do on fuel mileage?

fuel injected or carbs?

ridered92
01-12-2009, 02:24 PM
oic. im in the same place right now im looking at a 600r but ive never rode a street bike so i guess i should ride one first. i can apply for my licence in 18days so ill be my bike permit this spring

gcart2
01-12-2009, 02:27 PM
how old are you. you only have to be 16 to get your bike license in florida.

ridered92
01-12-2009, 02:29 PM
im 16 but in maine theres a 6month permit until u can apply for ur licence

gcart2
01-12-2009, 02:31 PM
that sucks bro. im sixteen too. i dont think we have to have any type of permit. however i was taking a couple practice test (online) and they have ridiculous question.

ridered92
01-12-2009, 02:34 PM
yeah they do its mostly common sense. i had to take a writen test to get my permit and take drivers ed

most of all your 2003 or newer bikes are gonna be fuel injection which are nice cause they are extremely snappy and dont have to dick with the choke. i have a 05 r6 and love the thing. i also used to have a 03 zx6r. my r6 honestly took all the other brands in the 1/4 mile at the local drag strip. and they are the most comfortable. the main thing is how comfortable the bike is to you. and as milage anything below 10,000 is good if they are stock. but if they have a ton of stuff done to them 9 out of 10 they have had the crap ran out of them.

gcart2
01-12-2009, 03:21 PM
well you seem pretty educated. which bike do you think would be best for me.

im not interested in racing. if it can get to 80 pretty quick im happy. i want the bike cause i think gas is gonna spike again.

gsxrkneedragger
01-12-2009, 03:24 PM
in my opinion,

the 750 is only 4# heavier then the 600 and i could keep up with a cbr100rr. handles like a 600 but has more power. also, there is no such thing as a tire warranty. if so then i got screwed. i got about 1200 miles out of one rear tire. the seat is not custom. its a suzuki brand bolt on thing. the rear sets are nice, let you adjust your foot postion, once you get good at riding you will be able to tell a difference.

the gsxr600, first, its lowered i can tell the front is at least. that destroy the handling potential of the bike. don't ask why i just know it does.

the cbr, i'm wondering why it has 06 plastic although its an 03? was it dropped, wrecked, what? the thing that got me was the 06 forks and brakes and such. did he hit something that he isn't telling you? that would be my last choice, if i would even consider it.

high mileage, i had 18000 in a little over a year before i wrecked. thats was a lot for an 06 esp when i bought it with .1 miles on it. kbb gives you an idea of proper mileage for a bike. about 5k a year more or less depending on the climate. the 8k miles, isn't much but how well was the bike maintained? they need to be well taken care of to run great.

mpg's, if i was just cruising, btw i had a 06 gsxr750 as my most recent bike, i would get around 35-37ish. if i was out on my groups sunday rides, more like tt races. stuff that should have been taken to the track but never was:ermm: it was fun though. but i would only get at most 25mpg's mostly b/c i was running over 10k rpm's the whole time.

f.i./carb, there is no comparison. f.i., twist the throttle, your gone. carb, there is a hesitation. can also give you some problems if not adjusted right. f.i. can get a power commander that lets you adjust the air and fuel mixture anywhere in the power band. amazing device. esp with an exhaust and filter.

to answer your original question, either gsxr. i'd rather get the 750 for the reasons listed but it almost seems like the guy doesn't know exactly what he is talking about. in the end its your choice, what you like, what is more comfortable for you. starting out, you might want to think about an older bike, like an 01 or 02 r6 or something like that, just an idea. use it as a "leaner" bike. get you used to riding without having all that power in your hand. insurance will kill you on a newer bike being 16.

thats my .02. an opinion. sorry about the long post but riding was my life.:(

gcart2
01-12-2009, 03:30 PM
thank you. lots of good info. however about the insurance thing. you are not required to have insurance on a bike if the bike is paid off (in florida). i dont get it either but ill take it. it would prob be smart to have some though. so i have eliminated bike 2.

if i get this bike im selling my truck and getting a 6cyl.

gsxrkneedragger
01-12-2009, 05:43 PM
you lucky s.o.b. j/k. thats awesome. then again my bike was only insured for about a week right after i got it. then i canceled it. i just learned how to run:devil: but you should at least get collision in case something happens. knock on wood though. if you would go with the 600, you can take the lowering kit off. just an f.y.i. let me know what you end up doing. just watch out for the 4 wheelers. they don't pay attention at all to bikes.

gcart2
01-12-2009, 05:52 PM
how do lowering kits work on bikes? if the rear is lowered but not the front how does it look.

stuftmunky2k
01-12-2009, 06:05 PM
looks like turd. lowering the back with lowering links is easy. and somewhat cheap. and to lower the front you could either loosen the triple trees and push them down (don't like that look) or they sell lowering straps for drag racing ( destroys your forks) or take your fork and get different springs put in. either way lowering does help your stability but watch you don't hit your lower fairing on a bump or something, cause you will crack it in a second.

stuftmunky2k
01-12-2009, 06:08 PM
man anything you get will do 0-80 before you get out of second. my r6 on the back wheel from 1 gear threw 2 till it raps out in rpms. and thats like 105mph ish. just get the bike that fits the best. my buddy gas a gsxr and i think its so uncomfortable. its personal preferrence. but the main thing is don't be stupid and watch for other people. ride withen your limits.

sounds good. i will likely ride up to some local dealerships just to get a good fit. i dont plan on lowering it. actually i dont plan on doing an aftermarket other than some custom stuff like neon.

i drive to school everyday and its 27 miles away. kills me on gas.

gsxrkneedragger
01-12-2009, 06:16 PM
in that case go with a ninja 250, about 50 mpg. haha

got to get some nookie out of the deal.

stuftmunky2k

one thing i would suggest is a exhaust. loud pipes save lives. so people hear you coming.

gcart2

lol maybe i could convince my mom that. what is it like a 1000 bucks for a full system?

600 or 750? hows the mpg?

ridered92
01-12-2009, 06:29 PM
the tman. that exhaust must be obnoxiously loud

stuftmunky2k
01-12-2009, 06:30 PM
nice man those two brother pipes are so loud on the gsxr. my buddy has one on his gsxr750 and i cant ride beside him. i hear it over the ipod.

heres my old zx6 think you would like it since you said you want white.

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj173/stuftmunky2k/l_f7d4d09290c4ecb7f3eba8f56a9aba50.jpg

and here is the newer r6

01-12-2009, 06:33 PM
yeah it sloud, i bought an insert to quiet it down, but it barely did, but i love it loud

eve if none of my friends want to ride next to me haha

as for MPG, no idea, i just ride it! fill up when the light comes on and off i go again

edit: nd its a 600 by the way

very clean. is that chrome or polish? i looked at the yamahas but they just didnt catch my eyes. however when i go to fit them i may change my mind.

JJs450r
01-12-2009, 06:35 PM
my 954 stink when it comes to gas only because its geared with 2 down and 4 up, gets 20-25 mpg, id like to sell it cus i hardly ride it anymore one i got another quad, plus its 2 cold up hear to ride i only pay 11 a month for liablity on my bike, full coverage for me is outrageous with having 6 tickets 1 of them doing 105 in a 55. but i like it just the right amount of power smooth ride my brother rides an 08 600rr the blue and silver paint, gear up 3 in the back and said he really didnt notice a difference in gas mileage

had a polished frame, swing arm, and rims, and was painted cocaine white. a cadillac white with a blue pearl.

theTman
01-12-2009, 06:37 PM
polished exahust and outer rim lips, subframe is stripped, blacked out windscreen and front turn signals

and the person before me cut the levers to make "shortys" everyone hates them but i got used to them

gcart2
01-12-2009, 06:38 PM
wow i like the new r6. black may be the way to go. hard to keep clean?

how do yall black out the screen? window tint? paint? is it illegal?

theTman
01-12-2009, 06:39 PM
as long as you keep on top of cleaning your bike it shouldnt be hard, i was mine at least 3 times a week and wax it almsot every time

wow. then again its not all that much to clean. i think a black bike sitting in the back of my black f-150 would be so sexy. gives me a little hard-on just thinking about it:p

i like the way you think.

any of you guys put your daily driver (bikes of course) on the strip? how did you do.

thetman, how often you ride it?

theTman
01-12-2009, 06:50 PM
i ride almost every day in the summer, i bought the bike last valentines day (weird i know lol) and took it out for the first time at the end of march, last ride was the beginning of november, i put on over 6000 miles in one summer:)

gsxrkneedragger
01-12-2009, 06:52 PM
the black out screen, you just buy an aftermarket one. to my knowledge, its not illegal.

those new 250's are 600 inspired. haha. i love the tip. i couldn't even stick my pinkie in it. lol. sorry i just looked on the website and they get 61 mpg's

i used to clean mine all the time when i could and then i just rode so much that it would always be dirty so i just left it go and finally my buddies kept busting on me cuz my dirty bike and a week after i wash it is when i total it. i think the bugs were my guardian angels. ;)

JJs450r, 4 up in the back? instead of selling it just get a few more teeth back there and make it a stunt bike. j/k i bet you had crazy amounts of low end torque though

gcart2
01-12-2009, 06:53 PM
wow man you ride that thing. no crashes? im not really worried about it. do your ride with helmet? jacket? what?

gsxrkneedragger
01-12-2009, 06:58 PM
the first and only time i took mine to the drags, all stock...my r/t sucked. it was .885. i know its bad. 1/8 mile was 7.414 @102.88 1/4 was 11.239 @126.33. not horrible. i guessed my dial time to be 11.2.

theTman, ride bike. i thought about painting mine all flat black. maybe my next one.

this is what i always rode in...

gcart2
01-12-2009, 07:09 PM
wow. you guys ride doubles a lot?

gsxrkneedragger
01-12-2009, 07:16 PM
no. it depends on the person if i like to go 2 up. if they are real scared and stuff, it sucks cuz then you gotta go slow, but one time, my group met this group of girls, the one got on my bike and i rode like a mile long wheelie with her on. she absolutly loved it. and one actually asked me if anyone ever got wet somewhere where i probably shouldn't say:eek2:

thats what you mean by doubles, right?

I bought a brand new DRZ400SM, put a full yoshi RS-2 on, stage 2 jet kit, and a K&N. It's also got alot of body mods, little turn signals, supermoto front fender, relocated license plate, etc.. It's too much fun I can hardly afford the tickets.

gsxrkneedragger
01-12-2009, 07:40 PM
haha. thats awesome. the tickets are what i would worry about.

gcart2
01-12-2009, 07:43 PM
im not too worried about tickets. ever take your bike on long rides? like cross the state? how was it.

gsxrkneedragger
01-12-2009, 07:53 PM
not really across the state. there are like 30 or so of us but usually like 15 or so for our group rides. we would meet up at a central spot and then pick out a ride depending on the time, weather, day, etc. and then go from there. i've put 300 miles on my bike in one day already. there are some amazing twisty roads in cnetral pa. i felt my bike was comfortable so i could ride agressive all day and be fine. once in a while the next day after a hard ride, i'd be a little sore but not bad at all.

ECATV Raptor
01-12-2009, 07:55 PM
Ohh geezz, long rides blow. On straight long roads my back killls me but as long as it's got some twisties its great. Me and my buddies rode to New Jersey (which isnt that far from my place) and it wasnt too bad because we would do wheelies and stoppies at each light. As long as you get to move around your alright. Up here we kill crotchrockets on back roads.

you haven't rode with me yet, have you? haha j/k. i was getting really good at rolling stoppies. briing it up about 60 and ride to a stop. i used to do them at red lights behind cars until one guy decided to stop short and make me brake harder then i needed to. i was balanced just not enought ***** to bring it back down so over the bars i went. picked it up and kept on riding. it was funny.

ECATV Raptor
01-12-2009, 08:05 PM
Lol im not too good at stoppies, or super long wheelies yet, but the but the other motards i ride with just ride wheelies for miles...its pretty sick. I've only been riding on 2 wheels for 5 months now and I absolutley love it. Cant wait for spring:macho

gsxrkneedragger
01-12-2009, 08:15 PM
i could ride for miles on 1 wheel. staying in 2nd gear right around 100. my longest that i know of was like 3 miles til i ran out of road. learn the balance point of your bike and your good to go. i love passing people. they either give me the thumbs up, wave, flip me off, point thier finger, or my favorite, swerve at me. i just swerve too. thats gotta piss them off even more. i actually passed a car full of old people one day in a wheelie about 80 and they happened to get beside me on the off ramp and were asking me how i did that and stuff and said that it was really cool to see. there was like an 85 year old lady in the back who even gave me a thumbs up. it was great.

i'm sure your seats aren't too comfortable either though.

To answer a few questions i've seen on here...

I'm 22 years old riding a 2006 honda cbr600rr...

Gas mileage is right around 30mpg if i'm riding it hard and reving out 1st gear. If I baby it I can get 45 or so.

Insurance I pay 336$ a year for comprehensive coverage. It started out at 800$ or so 2 years ago and has gone down. Also my deductable has gone from 1,000$ to 500$.

For bikes it all depends what you want to do one what type you should get. I've rode everything out there in the 600 class and a R1 and 1000RR and personally you can't beat the 2005+ hondas or the R6 new versions.

Riding a rocket is not something to play with thou. I know 2 of my buddies got killed alone this year on them! Yeah you can pull the front wheel anytime you want and going 160mph feels like ur standing still but they are dangerous. Girls do love them thou! I swear everytime I take mine on a highway a car full of girls is flashin me as I ride past:D

to be honest if ur buyin this thing for gas mileage ur buying the wrong thing... You can't ride it for more then 30 mins without being sore and you have to run 92+ octane. So what you save over a car your spending on the high octane.

have you every rode a rocket. i ride easily 300 miles with out a problem. its how comfortable it is. i think its more comfy than my old cruiser. and so what i run 93 octane and still fill it up for like 12 bucks. cant beat it
