Air tube?

Does anyone know what the clear plastic tube that runs from the air filter box to in front of the carb do? I was puting a twist throttle on my EX last night and I took that tube off. Is this going to make any problems? Also, what should I use to cover the vacant hole?

I think you might be talking about the snorkel, but im not sure. If it is, that's so water wont get in your airbox when going a little deep. If you took it off, then you cant cross water that deep.

Thanks 4TraxRider, but is there any advantages or disadvantages (othere than water intake) to removing it.
