Well Here is my new R. Picked it up tuesday, got it for $7,380 O.T.D. My only dilema now it whether I should keep the blue Hipers and incorporate a lot of blue in the quad or get red rings and stick to the red/ black theme. The blue is starting to grow on me though............

I'am new on this site.Just signed up today but have been following it for a while. Some good info on here and maybe I can share some knowledge that will be helpful to some on here also.
I used to own a 1987 Quadzilla and stupid me sold it a few years ago.Trying to replace that 2 stroke power with a quad today and having a hard time believing that I can come close to it with one of these 4 strokes.Having had alot of experience with Harley motors and chevys I do understand what it takes to make them perform so with a big bore kit, porting, cams and good exhaust I'am going to give it a shot.
I just bought a new yfz450r and it was 8k otd.Several other dealers witin 50 miles were $8299.I'am from New Jersey and called surrounding states Delaware and Pennsylvania and the price was $8299 also.So I grabbed this one beings that the dealer was just allocated 2 and thats it!Got the first one in the area.
Can't put a pipe, filter and open up the air box yet because the dealer doesn't have any way to tune with the EFI.So have to wait for Yamaha to send them a factory commander.
Been reading on here that some say they have bought a commander to tune the EFI but don't believe any companies have released any yet or if they are ready to sell them.
Will wait a bit to buy a good one because afraid if I grab the first one that comes along it will be limited as to how many functions it will have as far as tuneability with the new EFI.
Well guys good luck and ride hard.

Welcome, well the YRZR will not rattle your teeth out like the 500 2-stroke does.Rideability is far improved, the chassis and suspension are light years ahead of the old zilla,so you will be able to ride it harder and faster.Learn the thing first before you put too much emphasis on power. Also, you dont need a commander to remove the baffle and lid,it will run fine.Thats how im running mine at the track until I get my Sparks pipe and it rips.Congrats and welcome to the new world order of 4-strokes!!!

Thanks for the tip there So-Cal.Going to definitely get used to the ride and put some time on it before I get serious about any mods.
So you didn't have to retune after a pipe and air box mods?Thats cool so maybe the EFI is a good thing after all.Sounds like the computer is doing its thing.

yeah should paint your rings white, then paint your a-arms the same color of your frame!

yeah dont keep those blue rings:eek2: it looks like u just threw some parts on it imo. go with a black, red or white. it would make it look way more "clean". blue would be good if u had the blue version. check this out.

Nice quad. I'm curious to see how people like them once they get some seat time. The only thing I do not care for is how the red on the seat is not the same color as the red on the frame. How hard would it have been to match the two? Your red Hiper rings won't match either.

Be sure to let us know how it feels :macho

Will they be too light?

No, they are a different shade of red though. Different from the seat and the frame.
