ok i just changed my head gasket. I thought that was the problem with my 250r. I'm kicking it and I have spark it wont start it blows a puff or two out the back at the bottom of every kick and feels like the plug isnt firing at the right time i have no idea whats wrong and it gets fuel? is it a timing problem lol or is that a dumb question???

If your timing plate is correctly installed, you have fuel, you have spark, and I would guess you have enough compression to run?

check for bad ground ,..& make sure flywheel key is not sheared

as mentioned, i would make sure that the key way on the flywheel isnt sheered and i would also try another CDI. i've seen bad CDI's fire late as you describe.

Tell you what...this will tell if you its a carburetor or intake issue. Pour a little gas on the air filter and kick it hard a few times and crack the throttle. Mine always pops off when I "prime" the motor using this method.

If it doesn't start, its probably ignition related.

the fly wheel has plenty of rotating weight to it and if it isnt totally seated on the crank, something as simple as a kick back can cause it.

when you put the flywheel back on tap it with a rubber malet after you think it is tight, I take the clutch cover off and wedge a penny between the primary and basket gear. or I have heard of people puting rope in the cylinder, never tryed it though, seems kinds weird to me, lol.

the rope trick is fine for other applications but, not advised in this one. ;)

For my own knowledge, what do you use the rope trick for?
