I searched this but couldn't find anything about it. So if you know of another thread or something please tell me. Anyway, I was wondering if doing the parking brake block off, or something like that, was useful. Pros? Cons?
I see alot of people that do that and have always wondered why.
Thanks

I found on one web site it saves one pound.

I wanted to replace my stock clutch lever with aftermarket. Once you do that you loose the parking brake. It's just cleaner and you can shed some weight.

It increases the life of your brake pads, plus it cleans up the look on your swing arm. I could never get the thing to work right anyway.

I have a White Brothers block off. Just has WB engraved and its the same color as the caliper so its like its meant to be there. It does look much cleaner in the front and back of the quad. Then get a new clutch lever assembly to get that big useless block off there

I don't want to jack this thread or anything but I wanted to get a different clutch lever myself but whats with the wiring to the starter and light switches? Do I just clip the wires?

I don't care if you jack it haha. I found my answer today actually at my local atv store. The owner knows eveything about quads and racing them. My brake pads were wore out and he said that I should take the parking brake off because it may be messing it up or causing it to wear out faster. He also said it saves weight and looks better in his opinion.
So yea what clutch should you get after you take that off? (forgot to ask him)

you don't have to change it, but if you do just get a regular clutch perch, you can probably get a cheap one from your local store, or search internet stores for one, a lot of people like asv but they tend to be pricey

If you do remove the parking brake will it only start in neutral w/ clutch pulled? Unless you do something with the wire? I read a little about it in dirtwheels but didn't get what you had to do
Thanks

if you disconnect the 2 wires going to the clutch lever, it will only start in neutral.

if you put a jumper wire, between the 2 wires going to the clutch lever, it will start any time, (Even when it is in gear).

Just cut the wires and tie them together. Beware that this allows the quad to start both in neutral and in any gear. If you hit the starter button while the quad's in gear it WILL jump forward on you, try to remember that :p

Haha. I've done that a couple of times.

Getting rid of the parking brake and bulky clutch/park brake lever was one of the first things I did.

Splicing the two wires together that run to the clutch safety switch is the way to go. You'll learn quickly to pull the clutch in while starting in gear.

Thanks for all the help but it doesn't look like I will be doing it for a while. My dad doesn't understand. He always says I am just wasting money.
Hornetgod- I believe you used to have black shock covers with white honda written on it; where did you get them?
Thanks

oh yeah... you can leave the stocker in place... just remove the upper cable on the lever. i bought a cheap lever just to clean it up but eventually will get a nice one.. i cant believe how much they cost new...

tell your dad that spending 10 on the block off plate and $30 on new brakes once a year is better than spending $30 on new brakes 3 times a year...

40 compared to 90...no brainer there...

The main reason he thinks I don't need to do anything is because he had a 1980 xr80 when he was 14 and never replaced anything except tires until handlebars two months ago. He is 40 now. It still runs good. haha

Check dennis kirk rocky mountain magic racing and c and d racing. I am sure one wil have them. I would check magic first or call c and d. Otherwise dennis and rocky would be your last bet. Steve

I think I found the website but it is DMPcovers.com instead of c. Thanks for steering me in the right path. These aren't black and white but black and red will look better.:)
