whats your leak jets? pilot? needle? and i forgot to add, it about 35 right now in the winter, and gets to be about 80 in the summer.

assuming its not bored out i would try 175-180 main, 48 pilot, 35 leak jet

yeah, soyo sounds about right. Im about 0-500 above sea level and here is what i think ive got in it. 190 main, 48 pilot i think, 4th clip on the needle i think, and a 35 leak jet im pretty sure.
Good luck man, once you get it dialed in you'll love it.

how come you guys aren running such big mains, I heard you go to about 170 main when you put on the fcr. Are you running a FCI intake or something?

Idk, ppl have always said that but mine never would run right with that small of a main in it. with the 190 it runs great....

Heres my jetting, specs in sig, elevations around sea level to 1000ft.

172MJ
45pilot
OEM CRF Needle stock position
55 leak

It seemed to be running kind of rich by the look of the piston tho.
And burning some oil because the valve seals were shot.

Once I get my head/carb back from Chad we will pretty much have identical engines.
And hopefully I can actually get mine dyno'd this time.

Heres the picture of the piston, pump gas.

my concerns about the piston your showing is that the squish areas of the piston are contaminated too....

the squish zone (the outter flat area or deck of the piston) of the piston is very important to get velocity across and keep the piston from causing pre-ignition from excessive heat.... tight squish is ideal for maximizing power too!!!! my pistons are setup to a perfect squish.

Have you measured your installed 'in-the-hole' measurement using that piston John?

Only checked ring gap.
Didn't think I needed to check it using a shelf piston and OEM head gasket.

That's always going to happen on a low comp piston like that isn't it?

well i put the carb on with the jets that were in it. it has a 180 mj, 42 pilot, sparks needle(i think) and im unsure of what the other jets are. but it runs really strong, but it will deffinatly need to put a bigger pilot in, back fires alot when i let of the throttle. but i have pilots here. so i will swap one in there.

hey d3, if you dont mind me asking you, what are you all getting?

SSAR / +1 exhaust / Ferrera SS all around
and the FCR bored to 43.5

Sure hope so =)

Also switching back to the 05 HRC camshaft.
If the HD springs weren't so much money I would of went with a Web.

yeah springs, and web are both expensive. I wish i could hit the lotto and dump about 5 grand into power realated things, lol.

i have a few more questions. i havent pulled the plug to see how its burning, but the 180 runs good. i have a 55 leak, and a 48 pilot(kinda big) but idk if its too big. When i am putting low rpms, and i slam the throttle, it bogs really bad. what jet would cause that?

Pilot / Leak / Accelerator pump setting can all cause that.

That doesn't really narrow it down tho :P

hmm, oh well i can live with it. i see why fcrs are hard to tune. lol

put a 35 leak jet and that should cure the bog
