Buy a sand rail?

The only thing I could think of is maybe a taller steering stem and tall bars on top of that. I've never seen a 7' tall guy on a quad.

you guys are asses on here. mocking someone out for being tall? A good start would be a ROX Risers and higher bars. They make I think even a +5" riser maybe $80 - $100 and then you would have more bar choices with a higher riser. Just get longer cables and brake lines and you should be good.

Maybe make some custom foot peg mounts that drop the pegs about an inch. It could help if your knees hit the fenders. Just dont drop them so much that you cant use the brake.

Hey man I know your problem, I was never blessed with money, My first quad at 14 was a blaster I was around the height I am now about 6' it was a pain in the *** but I loved it.

My knees hit the handle bars when turning sharp I felt like I was smooshed in a shopping cart but again I loved what I had and made the best.

You might try getting some taller tires and changing the sprocket to not loose the take off speed. Then drop your pegs lower. Pad the seat make it a bit taller and then you could do the stearing stem and handlebars to give you a more upright feel instead of feeling bent over the bars all the time.

Im guessing you are having leg problems more than anything.

I would try to lengthin that out and possibly not go with such a high arch (how far the grips come back). Go with a more straighter handlebar so when stearing it dont swing back into your knee.

Just some things you could try. Alot of money but it would give you a chance to upgrade stuff as well and would cost alot less than buying a new ride.

You would need to buy new brake lines if doing some of this as the stock lines wont extend to far.

The whole poin in the taller tires is so when hitting a jump or bump it wont lower them closer to the ground creating a really bad scenario as in them hitting the ground and busting off.

I'm 6'5" so I can at least empathize with your situation. The 400ex is actually surprisingly comfortable even though it is not a "large" quad. Taller bars will definitely help while standing. So will lower and wider footpegs. With my long legs there have been times it would have been nice to have more footpeg to work with when hanging off the side in corners.

trailrider894,
I own both a 400 ex and a ds650X. The 400 ex is very reliable and easy to ride but after a few hours its just not comfortable. I changed shocks and handlebars attempting to make it more comfortable, without success. I bought a Can-Am ds650X and I can tell you it is a lot more comfortable and I love the power. I also suggest a ds650, you wont regret it. The 400 ex is great but you just cant make up for ergonomics the DS 650 offers. It is just designed for bigger people.

PS- I am 6'4"

well not that thats cleared up if your 5'11" just get 2" Rox Risers and a bar. 1" higher bar with less pull back should be plenty for a person 5'11" because i'm 6'2" and growing. AC Pro Pegs or w/e will only make you feel taller. They sit a little higher than stock pegs and it makes the seat feel real low on you. Also all the problems my brother has had having them over the past few years.... stay away from AC. He is now looking for something different. I love Pro Armor. When I got them froma friend as a gift I tried to line them up and the 1 side was bent so far down it was only an 2 inches from the ground!!! I lifted it up and put a jack under that part and jumped and leaned lines the hole sup and put the bolts in then got my dad to help push the quad to the side lifted and bend them back. They were bent back from that far and havent cracked or anything. The other side was bad but not 2" from the ground

Hell . . . . . it's just a one-foot difference!

Nah, dude, I'd say you're about average height. If you don't hit your knee on the throttle while turning you're fine. I'm 6-04, and all I had to do was put on some taller bars (ATV high bend) and life is good.

To answer your question my DS 650 is stock, not one modification. The one difference you notice as soon as you sit on the ds650 from the 400 ex is seat hieght and bar hieght.
DMC I was only talking about the ds650 because other posters in this thread suggested he buy one, which I had happened to do already. (still love my 400 ex, thats why I kept it)

Ohh.. okay nevermind. I was just asking because you put banshee eater after it so I thought it was like a big bore or something.

The rox risers look like trash, and it looks like the brake line is already being pulled and the bars are straight in the pic. The trail tech clamp added 2 inches from the center of the stock bars to the center of the new bars.

lol... thanks? guess that's the first negative feedback i've had looks-wise. nothing is stretched actually, the brake line is just out of the little guide thing on the frame to allow more slack. thanks for playing tho..

The banshee eater quote is just a little statement to my friend who has a banshee. His banshee is worked and I beat him everytime because of the amount of mass thats on the seat (LOL). He just has to face the fact that I beat him.
PS- He reads this forum so I am having a little fun with him.

has anyone here used this type of handlebar risers?
pros/ cons?
opinions?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Handlebar-Risers-YZ125-CR125-KX125-RM125-CRF250-KX250F_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35580QQihZ024QQi temZ370143031485QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

or possibly something like these...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130280880359&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=003

but with the second set, at 3.5" tall x 1.5 pull back, would it be necessary to change throttle and brake lines ?
(I was actually thinking of using them backwards for a 1.5" FORWARD sweep).

what do you guys think of either one of these risers?

i am six foot two and i have no trouble with mine. i put tag x5 handlebars on it. they are the 450R bend and i love them. they are probably an inch taller than stock.

I'm 6'6" and I came off of a cramped 400EX. Now I have a 700XX and am very happy with the size and power.
