I Want to buy a use set of shocks for my r, but its difficult to find used ones on ebay listed as for a 250r. They are a lot of aftermarket shocks like elka listed for 450r and 400ex. Will the aftermarket shocks for a 400ex and a 450r fit my 250r both front and rear?

Thanks for the help!!

I know the fronts off a 450r will fit but will usually raise the height of the front due to the shocks being a little longer. My front shocks are 450r aftermarket and bolted right up.
The rear will do the opposite and lower the rear and stiffen the ride because the 450r rear is shorter and uses a much heavier/ beefier spring. Also the reservoir has to be a remote unit, not incorporated into the shock like the stock ones on the 450r. It will hit the intake.

I'm not too sure of the 400ex shocks but I do believe they will go right on.

450r, 400ex and Z400 shocks will bolt up to a 250R however you'll want to pay attention to the shock length and rider weight setup.

Depending on whether you are using stock width or aftermarket a-arms your shock length will increase.

As far as I have found stock length is 15 3/4 inches

+2 are closer to 16 to 16 3/4 inches depending on the type of tires you are using.

Before you go buying any used shocks figure out what length you need and then look - you can always get them adjusted however you are looking at additional costs + revalving.

450R and 400ex rear aftermarket shocks can be made to work by changing the clevis, but stock shocks won't work because of the canister being in the way.
