First of all, I'm new to the 400EX. I just bought an 05 last week. I want to rejet because it is stock.

Need some info: What Kiehin carb is on the TRX400EX? When ordering main jets, what series or part numbers do you use?

I've found several websites for ordering main & pilot jets but I need more info so I can be sure I order the right parts.

My 400EX doesn't want to run when it's cold so I'm going to replace the pilot with a 42 to richen it up a little.

Thanks!

Just pull your main and pilot jet's out and head to your local dealership. I just picked up a 42 pilot jet today at the stealership for $5.

instead of guessing and paying $5 per jet, you could buy a DynoJet kit and get an adjustable needle with the package along with instructions and suggestions for when you add high flow exhaust and intake (air filters, lid off, etc.). They go on ebay for $40-50 all the time.

like this one:

well, i tried to post a link, but the link wouldn't work! ebay item number: 230301384369

Or you could go to jets-r-us.com and get all the jets that you will need for any mods for half the price of a jet kit and then just shim the needle.

So, is the #42 Keihin pilot jet the one that runs the best. That's two sizes up from stock.

No one runs the #40?

I run a 40 with the mods in my sig. When I was planning on getting that stuff I went to jets r us and ordered a range of jets and then order a 40 and 42 pilot you might have to do the same.
